Car hiring in Europe for young people - What are the rules?

Do you know which is the minimum age to rent a car as Non-European?

do you know which is the minimum age to rent a car as Non-European???

If theres any car hires website that makes "exceptions" for young people, (i've heard that some companies ask for a special fee for young people)?? i'm 22 and i'm not quite sure about the age...

i'll apreciate the info...

I really need it, if you know please let me know, I'm going to Norway in 3 weeks, and we are 4 friends. Im flying w/ Ryanair so the airport is quite far from the city, I have made some research and found the car hires companies and prices but nothing about this Rules... Whilst trying to book the age by default that appears is 25. So i need the info... PLease 😊 thanks in advance Reply to this

I believe that most rental companies in Europe have a minimum of 25, and those that do allow drivers under 25 will have one of two options 1) Pay surcharge, and/or 2) Insurance excess if an accident occurs will be very high (this may cost you thousands of Euros if you have an accident).

Also, some companies will only allow renters under 25 to hire smaller vehicles instead of larger ones.

Having said all of this, try "Auto Europe" - I used them to hire a vehicle in Spain in 2008 - the rates were good. I've just conducted a dummy booking on the site and they do appear to allow drivers between the ages of 19-23. You will be paying a surcharge, but your options will be very limited (probably nil) if you don't wish to pay one.

Thanks guys for your info!!!! So i think i'd have to lie about my age, get a fake ID or just ask someone else to rent it for me...
=( So laaaame!!! I really want to do Europe in a car...

Another point guys... have you ever heard about this car hires site...???? some friends told me bout it...

What do you think? ever heard/tried/booked???
