I'm going to visit Nice and need some good accomodation in the centre. Does anyone have any tips, either apartments or hotels? Reply to this

I would like to tell you that I was just in Nice and it's a nice place for the beach and the good food on the beach. Just make sure that you are as close as possible to the beach. The center of the city by the train station is a little shady. Just to let you know.

We were in Nice for September. It was fantastic. We hadn't been before and so intend to go back next year. The food and wine (of course!) is some of the best I've ever tasted - go to Jouni on Rue Lascaris. We stayed in an apartment called "Boucheirie". We originally found it on holiday rentals but were then directed to the owners website (where we had a lot of choice of lots of great apartments). The website is www.nicepebbles.com. It turned out that the owners had just started running a website business and were gathering together good apartments. The important bit for you is that they are ALL in the centre. We were really impressed with the apartment, and Gail who ran it. Very friendly, really helpful.

Erik is very right, you do need to be in the centre. Although, I wouldn't recommend using the beach to show that its central though. The promenade is very very long and you can still have an apartment on the beach which is 30 minutes walk from the centre. Erik is also right about staying away from the train station. Vieux Nice is where all the action is. If you don't like hustle and bustle then you may prefer to be in the pedestrian area, ie around Jean Medicin. There's plenty of good quality apartments around. If Nice Pebbles don't have what you are looking for, there are others. I don't know the name but if you put riviera into google you may come up with them.
