sir i am going to sweden to attend a program/meeting in 2011 .is it possible to go some other countries of europe like france, spain and norway after attending the meeting?more over sweden visa will be enough to travel europe or specifically schengen visa will be required?i dont know embassy grants me visa only for sweden or for whole europe..but i want to see those countries too.being part of delegation i cant apply schengen visa alone..what ever type of visa will be granted that will be with whole delegation.but after attending program some one can go any where..kindly guide me..thank you
Reply to this Hi Hussain, Sweden is in the Schengen area, which basically means that if you get a Schengen visa this visa is valid for the other countries in the Schengen area. However, if it is a group visa it may not be possible to travel alone - I think in such a special situation you must talk to the Swedish embassy, they should be able to give you an answer. Be aware that even within the Schengen area there are checks at the border, I know from friends in this situation that they are often checked by passport police even when travelling in Schengen area. For example the police wait at the airport and ask to see your passport. So I wouldn't risk it, especially not going by plane or ferry as you they ask for proof of identity. You could try going to Norway by train or bus, but I haven't done it in a long time so I don't know for sure whether there are any checks.
Reply to this thanks for guiding me..embassy replied me that they rarely give visas only for sweden, usually they grant visa for schengen...but i will have to tell the purpose of travel to other countries than my my first destination.any other could guide me more..i shall be thakful
