We're planning a weekend of fun exploring the Whangarei area and getting to know some fellow travel bloggers.
A date has finally been set for a weekend TB meet in Northland. We'll be organising some trips to local attractions, both on and off the "beaten path". Exact 'activities' will depend on who wants to join us and what they are interested in, but could range from caving to climbing. We'll start with dinner and drinks somewhere in town on Friday evening, and from there...who knows...
We'll post more details later, but for now we are trying to gauge interest in this weekend up north.
Reply to this We'll try and find something to do that wont upset your trailwalker feet 😱 Good luck on the hike!
Reply to this Thanks - this time next week we'll be on our way down there!
Reply to this We will also be there! Looking forward to it! Walking, climbing, caving... sounds like fun! We'll bring Birdsy too, she'd also like to play.
Reply to this Should be a fun weekend! Is there anything anyone particularly wants to do?
Reply to this I remember the DOC track over the ridge from Ocean Beach to Peach Cove being really beautiful.... and Smugglers Cove ... and Mt Manaia .... and Bream Head... and Whananaki.... Tutukaka... Matapouri... etc...
Hope you guys have fun. We would join in if we weren't about 20000 km away! Maybe next year.
Reply to this Chris, Anna,
Thats a lot to see in a weekend! Did you do the Bream Head walks (Smugglers, Peach Cove etc) before or after the tracks were upgraded? The walks are still beautiful, but now access is so much easier!
We're thinking a loop along the Tutukaka Coast, stop at a few beaches, maybe a trip to Mt Manaia or the lesser known / walked Mt Aubrey nearby. Whananaki South for a long walk along the beach (can take the dogs too!) then across the bridge to the shop for a coffee or ice cream.
So many things to see...hope the weather holds out!
