Anybody in Argentina, who can let us know what the everyday Argentinian thinks of the current tension?
As the UK are about to start oil drilling in the Faulklands it seems there is tension between the governments of Britain and Argentina. So much so that the foreign secretary has recommended Britain send an additional vessel to the islands.
I'm sure all this will come to nothing but because I recently visited Argentina and intend on going back I would be interested in finding out what the people of Argentina feel about the drilling etc.
News Article Reply to this I really hope we don't end up falling out with Argentina over this! We spent 7 fantastic weeks in Argentina and I love the country and the people. I hope we can find a compromise that suits us both.
Reply to this I think it is really unlikely that we would fall out with them.
The media haven't even jumped on this like they would normally with something of this political importance. I haven't seen anything on the TV news which shows how unimportant they think it is.
But that's a good thing really given the effect the media manages to make some people in Britain.
Reply to this I've just spent an amazing trip in Argentina! Love the place and the people!!! I plan to return next year on my career break. I hope the oil drilling issue is sorted out soon for which would be beneficial to both countries. Also, most importantly, the overall issue with the Falklands Islands/Malvinas because this has been going on too long!!!! I think the media makes the issue worse than what it reallly is. However, I would be interested to see how things develop and how the Argentines feel about it.
Reply to this I very much doubt this current tension will amount to any thing. It is in neither Countries interest to start another war.
