Post your comments here. Will you be visiting Saudi, as a tourist or have you done so already?
Just curious, can you get a tourist visa now to Saudi Arabia?
Reply to this Yes, but you must go with a group - married couples are allowed to travel together, but not unmarried ones. Mixed groups of individuals can travel together, so one can use this as a method for several couples to travel together as individuals - but it could pose a few issues. Groups of all men or all women are also accepted. There are only a limited number of tour operators at present, but it is likely to increase in the future.
Reply to this I'm thinking of Iran next. Don't ask me why, it's just an inexplicable urge you get as a traveller.
I know what you mean. That urge took me to Iran, a couple of years ago. 😊
and so is Saudi Arabia - it is now opening up for tourists.
Really!? Tell more! Will it be easy for everybody to get visas then?

Just read this. Still too restrictive for my liking. 😞
Reply to this Hi.
This is really a good news.
I was waiting for this from long.
Reply to this According to Lonely Planet, women under 30 cannot travel alone unless accompanied by a brother or husband. The tourist program is called "Discover Saudi Arabia" and there is a list of accredited operators on he Saudi Airlines website, but quite a few of the links do not work.

How disgusting! 😞 What is it with all this obsession with restricting womens freedom. I do make an effort to tolerate some of it, because I know that progress takes time, but there is a point such as this one, when it just becomes intolerable. So, looks like the king of Saudi is not managing to have nearly enough influence on people over there. He is apparently fairly open minded where women and other human rights issues in Saudi.
Thanks for the details Shane, even if they are bloody awful. I think, I will put Saudi Arabia on hold, even though I am over 30.
