Heavy rains for 6 straight hours yesterday inundated much of Metro Manila . Many were stranded.

I just had dinner with a fellow travelblogger last Monday, who flew to Palawan the day after. Good for him (Ben) , as there is not much to do in flooded Metro Manila, worst hit yesterday. Reply to this

Incredible that just 6 hours of rain can cause so much trouble!

Metro Manila and 23 provinces are now in a state of calamity in the wake of massive floods brought about by the heaviest rainfall in our country's recorded history.

My boyfriend couldn't leave Subic to travel to Manila Monday morning because he was told the roads are impassable due to flooding. He is scheduled to fly out of Manila on Wednesday...hope he can get there. Any updates on travel from Subic to Manila? Reply to this

No blogs or photos yet about this.

Did you take any photos of it, Liliram?

The news is making it sound pretty bad. Apparently, people have died because of it. Reply to this

About 140 perished . Many left homeless. Manila was worst hit, though some parts south and north of manila were also affected. I took pictures but have been busy with relief operations. Some of my friends were rescued as late as this morning only. here's a link. http://cheapaccommodationmanila.blogspot.com/

Oops, sorry. The above may be considered an advert, but that is not my intention really. The blogspot includes many pictures posted by a friend of mine. I leave it to you Mell to snip away. Won't mind. I'd try to upload some of my photos instead.

Btw, the road from Subic to Manila should have been cleared of debris by now. And waters have subsided . So Deb's bf should be able to catch that flight on Wednesday. Be sure to advise him to give it a lot of time allowance as traffic around Manila is even crazier after the floods. Reply to this

Thanks! I should hear from him in a few hours whether or not his transportation is a go for today. I have been worried that he might not make it to catch his flight...he's been gone for about 2 weeks so I'm missing him and don't want him delayed getting back home...plus he has to get back for work. we got hit! it was bad, fast, and totally unexpected because it has never happened in our 3 years of living in Pasig and our neighbors said it has never happened before. We got the electricity back just yesterday and i have seen that it was much worse for others nearby. We are very lucky 'cause everyone in the family was safe and i feel so sorry for those who lost some of their loved ones. i was able to take some photos in our area but the battery went empty when the flood was on its worst. will post a link when i get the time to upload those. i hope everyone else is safe! Sorry to hear about that, TinNie. My friend who was rescued only yesterday morning lives in your area too. My car "drowned" right there in the garage. But that is nothing compared to the loss of lives and property damage suffered by many. It is so heartbreaking. Reply to this

Goodness me! I had no idea it is that bad. Are all your friends safe and well now?

I think we can trust you. It is when people we dont know post links, that we are unsure of their intentions. Links are not really bad in themselves, and they can enhance discussions.

will try and write about it this week or perhaps post the photos first ...

we weren't expecting that it was going to be that bad too. i believe one of the reasons why alot of people have died and had no food was because we were all caught in a surprise

Does anyone know of any other fillipino members of TravelBlog?

unfortunately, I only know Lili and have not heard from anyone else but i am praying that they're okay 😞

Did any foreign aid workers manage to get to people? Often it takes several days or longer though for aid people to round up resources to help people with. I was talking with some of them a while ago in Ireland, and they said how available they are to go someplace to help people depends on how many regular donations they receive. Reply to this

Is internet still widely to people in the Phillipines? I suppose we wouldnt hear from people in some hard hit areas, if their internet is down.
