I am traveling to Belgium later this summer and I wanted to look into buying some diamonds if the rumors of cheap markets is true?

Thanks. Reply to this

Hello Lou 😊

Hmmm. I doubt if 'cheap' would count for end-user prices. Having said that, Antwerp is just about the biggest diamond trading ground in the world, so who knows if you can find some cheap rocks. I have never had the urge, so couldn't say if Antwerp is cheaper than elsewhere.

Antwerpen would be one of the best places to buy cut diamonds. But first make your homework on internet to know what you want to buy. The crazy thing with diamonds, is that there is such a coded world around them, that you could nearly buy a diamond on the internet from a reputable buyer.

Why is Antwerp cheaper...because there is not VAT on diamond and this is a first stop for most diamonds after they have been cuts somewhere else in the world. So you cut a lot of the middlemen.

Are you going to make a good deal...well...it's only depend of what you want. But it's always a good and interesting trip. They even have a diamond museu. Antwerp has a great zoo and it's the fashion capital of Belgium...should keep you entertain even if you don't buy anything.

Hope this help,
