Hi, a friend and I are looking to stay in Berlin this coming August 2009 and we need to find a cheap, safe place to stay for about 2-4 weeks. I've tried looking for hostels/hotels but everything comes out way beyond our budget; we\'re looking to spend about 300-700 dollars, if possible. If anyone can help find something for us it would be greatly appreciated!

That is a pretty tight budget. I would take a tent and ask farmers if you can camp on their land. Or you could join
Couchsurfing to try and find a host who will let you stay with her/him for free. Otherwise you could stay at hostel and budget very carefully.

Reply to this We stayed in a hostel called Berlin City Hostel near the Stadtmitte district. Cost 15 euro per night. It's an interesting place (which is why it's cheap I think) - used to be a psychiatric ward, and before that was the north korean embassy..........*twilight music*

HaHa! That place should produce a book about its history.
