My daugher thinks going to the plane toilets is a form of in flight entertainment. On a 2 hour journey she could want to visit the facilities 6 times. | UK airline? It is still and Irish airline isnt it? Or has it been sold? lol, they're going to lose alot of business :P![]() They seem to be doing very well because of their cheap cheap flights, despite having the some of the worst mannered and impatient staff of all airlines I have ever used. But, that changes when flying with a little kid. Then nothing is too much trouble for them. They even used to hold my daugher for me, when I wanted to use the toilet or was struggling to pull my bag out of the overhead bins with one hand and they always had her pram waiting and unfolded outside the plane when I stepped off. Kerfuffle Juggy Post Count: 47 Msg: #5 41 weeks ago, March 1st 2009 | i don't see how paying or a toilet would lower costs. You're going to still going to be carrying the same weight as if your went to the toilet or not. I think its just dumb. | Jo Trouble Jo McCarthy Post Count: 3114 Msg: #6 41 weeks ago, March 1st 2009 | It's probably not so much a case of lowering costs, as increasing profits....... | wonder what will be next, paying extra to be able to sit down? ;-) Mell Mell Post Count: 14464 Msg: #7 41 weeks ago, March 2nd 2009 | You're going to still going to be carrying the same weight ....![]() Oh, dont give them ideas or they will start charging us per kilo of our body weight. There will be a scales for us to stand on beside the check in desk at the airports. :D This reminds me of a restaurant somebody told me about in Singapore. Apparently there is a sign displayed on the wall there with the charge per gram that you have to pay on all food you dont finish. hoshisato Hoshisato Post Count: 15 Msg: #8 40 weeks ago, March 8th 2009 | This reminds me of a restaurant somebody told me about in Singapore. Apparently there is a sign displayed on the wall there with the charge per gram that you have to pay on all food you dont finish.![]() The all-you-can-eat buffet restaurant in the Oriental City here in London had the same sign. It is to prevent people from taking loads of food back to the table and then deciding they are full. As for Ryan Air, I guess you can always wee in the air sickness bags, or do you have to pay for them as well? Jo Trouble Jo McCarthy Post Count: 3114 Msg: #9 40 weeks ago, March 8th 2009 | As for Ryan Air, I guess you can always wee in the air sickness bags, or do you have to pay for them as well?![]() LOL, that'll probably be next. Mell Mell Post Count: 14464 Msg: #10 40 weeks ago, March 8th 2009 | It is to prevent people from taking loads of food back to the table and then deciding they are full.![]() Customers would need to lick their plates in order to prevent a fine that charges per gram. PA Leslie Pierre-Alexandre Post Count: 873 Msg: #11 40 weeks ago, March 9th 2009 | Don't laugh, but when US airlines started to charge for the first piece of luggage, some mainstream newspapers did put some comments laughing that the next step would be to charge us for using the toiltes, O'Leary is only doing it. And yes they could consider charging people by the weight....but that won't happen tomorrow is it would face battles in court as it would be rightly seen as discriminatory. | The issue is already in place in the States. If you don't fit in a seat, you have to buy two! Kerfuffle Juggy Post Count: 47 Msg: #12 40 weeks ago, March 9th 2009 | Yeah heard rumours about charging people by the weight... imagine having to stand on the weighing scale with those big huge red numbers for everyone to see. Honestly, I think that would be hilarious. | Mell Mell Post Count: 14464 Msg: #13 40 weeks ago, March 9th 2009 | And yes they could consider charging people by the weight....but that won't happen tomorrow is it would face battles in court as it would be rightly seen as discriminatory.![]() I weigh 35 KG less than my boyfriend does. I am less than 2 thirds of his weight. So, I would only have to pay two thirds of what he would have to pay? :D The issue is already in place in the States. If you don't fit in a seat, you have to buy two!![]() Didnt that start around 15 years ago and overweight people objected to it? Kinda stupid to charge them for 2 seats, because how often are the planes full anyway. Honestly, I think that would be hilarious. ![]() In a hellish kind of way. How many women would be comfortable with everybody seeing what they weight. The only time many of them admit to their real weight is when they are being assessed for bungy jumping. At least, my sister said that is the only time she did not lie about her weight. I am starting to prefer train travel more and more. Mell Mell Post Count: 14464 Msg: #15 40 weeks ago, March 9th 2009 | Thanks Pierre :) | Ali Ali Watters Post Count: 3909 Msg: #16 35 weeks ago, April 9th 2009 | So is it happening and how has the reaction been? | O'Leary I think pulls many of these stunts as "no publicity is bad publicity" - and I think he personally trains his staff in how to be obnoxious to customers - but - we all queue up, swear we'll never use them again, and then use them again ;) I personally don't think that charging per kilo is a bad idea - but - it should be placed on the ticket and not on a large LED display for all to see ;) - if it's up front and a reasonable charge then it all seems fair enough. What I hate is when I get hit by unexpected charges... that weren't clear to start with and are out of all proportion for the service needed. Mell Mell Post Count: 14464 Msg: #17 35 weeks ago, April 9th 2009 | O'Leary I think pulls many of these stunts as "no publicity is bad publicity"![]() Those are no stunts. ;) For example, he said that blow jobs would be provided for business class passangers. He just didnt mention that it would be self service. :D Ryanair Long-haul flights have "blowjobs" included!
