When i leave NZ i would have been working for about 3 months and been here for over 6 months and was wondering if anyone could advise me on the process of how to receive a tax refund? Also, am i entitled to a full refund as i've heard it's different to Oz here. Any help would be appreciated 😊
Reply to this Hi Emma,
In most cases it is no longer necessary to file a tax return in New Zealand. Provided you were on the correct tax rate, the correct amount while have been taken from your income.
The exceptions include people who are self-employed.
What was your work situation?

Thank you for your answer. So are you saying i won't receive a tax refund? I'm just a bit confused because in the UK you get tax back if you have earnt under a certain threshold. I will definately be under that threshold when i stop working as i'm only working for 3 months and not earning that much! I'm working in a campervan company...
Reply to this I haven't been a NZ resident for tax purposes for 3 years, so wasn't sure. Had a look at the site, and it seems that from the 2008/9 tax year the rebate is being replaced by a lower level tax to a higher threshold.
