Travel Programs - What ones are good, bad and ugly?

I need some info on travel programs and if I should use one or not!!

HELP!

I'm graduating from university in April and I'm planning to travel in June to Europe from Canada.

I'm looking at all my travel options and I'm confused!!

I was looking at a SWAP to Ireland. Has anyone gone on one of these before? Can anyone tell me what it was like and if you had enough money to live and travel? How easy was it to get a job? Did you have any bad/good experiences with it?

My other options are two and three week tours through TravelCuts or just simply backpacking without any program.

Could someone give me some advice about the best way to go? Are there any other options that don't know about? What I should look for/expect?

I have an unlimited amount of time and a short budget. I'll be travelling with my boyfriend.

Can someone help me?

Hi Kristy. I don't know if you've already left or now (you may have since we're past the mid-point of April), however if you're still around, I'd be interested in knowing what company(ies) you & your boyfriend ended up choosing and if you end up liking them or not...

I do my planning using Google Eath. It helps me get a spacial familiarity with the locations. You can download TONS of placemarkers for Europe from exploreglobe.net and they also have links and info on planning, transportation, lodging, etc.
