Our van is pretty much bare bones with basic essential cooking gear, so we were wondering what we could bring along that would be beneficial to the journey!?

Also, does anyone know if there are restrictions as to what kind of food items you can bring into NZ from USA?
Thanks😊 Reply to this

Hi Jake,

NZ Customs are very strict on fruit and plant matter brought into NZ, regardless of country of origin.

Hi Jake,

Two of my friends and I are planning a similar trip come this December. We will be flying to Aukland and leaving Christchurch for a period of 40 days. I have done a little research but have not committed to any specific rental van company. Have you found one you really liked? Why did you choose that specific one?

Also if any one reads this please feel free to make any suggestions.

Thanks,

nglass-- we found a company we liked based on the price and the insurance hold payment (x amount of $ they freeze in case of an incident)
Aroha rentals - www.aroha.co.nz -- Basic vans with camping gear and excellent customer service IMO.. Pauline is super nice and helpful. I bargained with her and got her to rent us a van for $60 NZD per day ! which is pretty much unheard of, especially during peak times. Check em out ! Reply to this

Jake,

Thanks for the tip. They look like a great company. I like that the vans are unmarked. Have you talked with anyone who has actually rented from them? If not no worries just wanted to ask.

Thanks,
