Heya, im a New Zealander planning on heading through Turkey, Iran and into Pakistan later in the year, planning on picking up my Iranian visa in Istanbul using iranianvisa.com,

Is it worth getting my Pakistan visa there at the same time or should I get it in Tehran.

Not possible to get them in my home country as im on the road now in Europe. Reply to this

Hello Ben 😊

I would actually try Istanbul since you are going there first and if they wont give it to you then try it in Tehran. Also, why not try the Pakistani consulates in the cities you visit in Europe? I think you also have to have some kind of letter from your own consulate in order to get the Pakistani visa? At least that is what some backpackers I met in Iran who had just backpacked accross Pakistan told me.

I just thought of something else for you to consider. Your passport will be with the Iranian consulate from 2 hours to 5 days in Turkey while they are processing the visa. So if you want to apply for the Pakistani visa in Turkey you wont be able to do it until you get your passport back. Reply to this

hey, I am planning the same sort of trip. so if i understand correctly I could apply for an Iranian visa while I am in turkey...same for the Pakistan visa.
I guess also I would need to hang around Istanbul for the time it takes to get both visas. what's a rough time estimate? and also how likely is to get the visas from abroad?

thanks

Iranian visa:
What you could do to ensure faster processing of your visa when you arrive in Turkey is apply for a visa code from an online agent in advance. Then the visa will usually only take a few hours for the consulate to process once you hand in your passport. But to be safer, make sure you can stay for 5 days in case it takes that long. The agent will charge a fee, but you might feel it worth paying to cut down on complications at the Iranian consulate.

If you want to use an online agent, the one I used is www.iranianvisa.com. I recommend them because they quickly responded to all my questions and I believe they got the visa code to me as fast as they possibly could. Also, most people seem to use them.
