ABSOLUTELY swamped trying to find a day trip to spend the day wine tasting....

I want to spend a day wine tasting, maybe a nice lunch as a day trip away from paris with my boyfriend. looking around, there seems to be 2 week $2000 trips, but its not exactly what i'm looking for, if you know what i mean.

Any suggestions as to:

Where? I was thinking Loire Valley...

What to do? Do you just stumble across places, or do you book. if so where? there's surprisingly little internet info!

Has anyone any experience of this kind of tour... we would like taste (and buy!) some wines but by no means are we experts and i'm feeling surprisingly intimidated by the whole thing.

Any suggestions at all would be incredibly welcome.

All my love from Paris!

I would look at tours that offer tastings to give yourself an idea of where & when. Then book your hotel near there & do it yourselves.

Tours can be expensive...if you are adventurous try to get down south. Either in the SW or the Languedoc but you will need a car.

In the SW we (me and the girlfriend) stayed at a b&b called Château du Bascou (www.chateaudubascou.com) they have their own vineyards and we took a cooking course there which was great fun...learning every which we took cook a duck...Gascon style.
It was especially nice because we were a short distance away from the wine regions of Madiran, St Mont and Pacherenc du vic Bihl. Three particularly good wineries were Château St Go, Monastère de Saint Mont, also there's a cooperative making some stylish wine called Plaimont.

In the Languedoc there is loads of places too. One nice village is Saint Guilhem le Desert, we stayed at (www.guilhaumedorange.com) it's about an hour from Montpellier and right near an excellent sub-region called Montpeyroux - best winery there is Domaine Font Caude. A bit further (like 30minutes) is the sub-region of Terrases du Larzac, there you can find Domaine La Suavageonne, probably one of the best "undiscovered" wineries of the whole region.

Bon degustation!

That is no problem. We dig up threads like this, when people ask the same question again. 😊 Reply to this

Ok, old thread, but from Paris, for a day trip...only two options.

Tours....for some white wine and castles...

But for me the best is TGV to Reims, and than you are in Champagne!!! And this is easy even for newbies.... Reply to this
