Is it possible to extend a Vietnamese tourist visa inside Vietnam? Has anyone done this? My local embassy told me it won't be possible, but I thought I'd check. Reply to this

Hello Gillian 😊

According to my Lonely Planet book you can. The book says to ask a travel agent in a major city in Vietnam to do this because you will likely have no luck if you go to the immigration office yourself. You will need a passport sized photo.

I extended my visa in Hanoi, no problem, - as Mell says, most travel agents do it, but pick one you intuitively trust as some have more info and seem to know what they're doing, than others - I actually did mine through my guest house, which had a travel desk - bear in mind it'll take 3-4 days to process, but you can always take a trip to Sapa or Ha Long Bay and then come back and fetch it, that's what I did - take copies of your passport before handing it in. I got another 30 days visa which was perfect. It's easy Reply to this
