Somewhere to spend a weekend

Hello, can someone help me?I've been living for a couple of months in England now, but I want to start to do some tourism. I want to go somewhere with my boyfriend in July, for 2-3 days, but not to London. Anny suggestions? We love nature and beach, if that helps. And history too! Thanks for your ideas! Reply to this

Bath is gorgeous for a weekend away, beautiful building lots of history and is small so you can walk about everywhere. There are great cafes and resturants too. There is no beach BUT go to the new thermal bath first thing in the moring, it is truely magical, it is cold enough that you have steam rising off the water, but you are heated by the thermal waters and you can see the surrounding fields and the spires of bath catherdral Reply to this

Brighton hasn't got a sandy beach, there is a pebble beach and Brighton is quite expensive. Reply to this

Yorkshire has all you want. I live in Cumbria but go across to Yorkshire for all my holidays. It is an incredibly historical area, especially York along with lots of nature reserves and the most diverse and striking coast lines from Bridlington to Whitby. I always use http://www.iknow-yorkshire.co.uk to book as they have b&b's and hotels all over the county along with the best deals. Reply to this

Totally with Jenny on Yorkshire. I have lived here in North Yorkshire for 18 months and it is a super part of the country - exactly as Jenny said - York is very historical with viking history, there is the viking centre, york dungeon, york minster, small museum all about the history of york and the very old streets such as the shambles. Then on to whitby for the the beach and what must be the best fish and chips in the country - along the way there are a lot of lovely little places such as the North Yorkshire moors, the village of Helmsley and then on to Scarborough which has a beach and castle. Robin hoods bay is worth checking - not really a beach but very nice peice of coast line with big cliffs and lovely village with steep streets and interesting little shops. I hope you will come and see for yourself. Reply to this

What about Southport for the weekend.

It has the famious Southport beach and is close to many nature reserves such as Martin Meer wildlife sanctuary and Formby pine woods home of the famous red squirrel.

When in Bath, also Cheddar Gorge and the caves are worth visiting. Very close is also a cathedral town of Wells and Glastonbury Abbey Reply to this
