Hello everyone,

I'm from Turkey/Istanbul. I'm planning the trip in india for 20 days in December.

This is my route:
Any advice?
Are 20 days enough?
How should I travel between the city's by plane/train/bus?

İstanbul to Kathmandu: plane (400 euro😞 ) / for 3 days

Katmandu to Varanasi: plane (182 dolar) / for staying 2 days

Varanasi to Delhi: ? (planes price is about 55 dolar)/ for 1 days

Delhi to Agra: train / for daily taj mahal tour (this tour price is 85 dolar, all inclusive)

Delhi to Dharamsala: bus? (12 dolar) / for staying 3 days

Dharamsala to Haridwar: bus (5 dolar)/ for staying 2 days

Haridwar to Rishikesh: bus (5 dolar) / for staying 5 days

Rishikesh to Delhi: taxi (50 dolar) / for back to Istanbul

Thanks a lot already😊

If you can take longer, then that would be good - maybe 28 days even? I think that Varanasi has lots to see, maybe you could spend 3 days there, I'm not sure 2 is enough. And Delhi is worth longer than a day - maybe people have told you Delhi is not that great! But it's a very interesting city, if you can spend 2 or 3 days there, that might be better - maybe at the end of your trip, when you are more used to India. 😊 Reply to this

If you have limited time, and have enough money, plane would be better as it will be much quicker. But you should try and take one train journey at least during your trip - it's a real experience! Reply to this

Hello Ozgun 😊

Repeat of what everybody else said. Your schedule is a bit too packed. Too much rushing from here to there and not enough relaxing time on it.

I am going to be in India for almost the same amount of time as you are next Christmas. One could spend all that time in Delhi and the places which can be reached from Delhi in a few hours train ride.

Following is where I am going to go for my 18 days in India next Christmas.

I will be in Delhi most of the time. I want to go to Haridwar to see the Ganges, Kuruskshetra for around a week to take day trips to surrounding villages so I can see what India is like where the tourists dont go, Agra to see the Taj Mahal and Khajuraho to see the erotic statues.

hi,
i took the train from delhi to varanasi and it was o.k., trains in india can be an adventure by itself,
make sure you order second class sleepr, or ac class.
aas for dharmsala, december will be cold, maybe even snowing, if you do'nt mind than mybe you should come to manali,
it is 8 hours by bus from dharmsala, it is the best place in the north of india, and you can enjoy skiing and the amazing view of the himalayan mountains.
for more information:
have fun,
liat.
