So then the trip started. We left Hoshangabad on the morning of 13th Aug and made our way down south to Chennai. It was such good feeling seeing mum, pa, surbhi and shweta relax and not worry about the chores. The train was comfy. well as comfy as trains could be. Back when i lived in India, i could sleep on trains like a log. I found out that was not the case any more. So the Gupta family yapped and yapped and eat and got entertained by some of my sister's stupid jokes. We got to Chennai early on the 14th. Walking out of the station, you could immediately tell this was a different India. Amidst a plethora of negatives, one of the things which is perhaps unique about India is how you can simply ... read more

So then, we are well into planning our trip next month. A rough itinerary is ready for both Singapore & KL and it will be fine tuned further as we get close to the D Day. Flights and trains have been booked. Will book hotels in a week or so. Prior to our family trip, we are also keenly looking ahead to our overnight stay in Taipei, enroute to Delhi. From what i have read and heard about it, it's such a shame we couldn't make a longer stop over in Taiwan as it is seems to be a fascinating country. We will surely go there again, preferably for a week ateast and take in it's culture. It's only 3 weeks now until we leave for India. We often complain about how quickly time flies, but ... read more

Hello everyone, we have been planning a family trip to Malaysia & Singapore in Aug for a while now. Since this will, in all probability, be the one and only of its kind, I am committed to making it a memorable one. Shweta & I are in Sydney while my parents and sister are back in Hoshangabad. Most people in our situation would just walk into a travel agents office and let them do all the ground work. I am however, not a big fan of packaged holidays as they take the spontaneity out of your holidays. You travel in large groups and follow a set itinerary. It’s akin to a day out from your school under the prying eyes of your class teacher. I have decided to research and plan everything from booking flight tickets ... read more

Last Sunday, we went on a wine tasting day trip to the Hunter Valley. Its about 2.5 hours north of Sydney. Neither of us are wine connoisseur, but we gathered that it would be worth to explore the intricacies of it since we have often talked about starting a wine bar one day. So we set off on our trip, it was an early start to the day as the coach was supposed to pick us up from the City at 7:30. We left home at 6:15 and got their in plenty of time. Word of caution, this travel company we booked our trip through is a bit of a conman. You see, we booked our trip through Sydney Tours R Us and they confirmed us a price of $110/head. So here we are waiting for ... read more
