But I face the same dilema everytime I go there , I still have no idea what to do there! I know there is stuff to do and places to see!I read the travel books and have been there.

If you're going to be in Melbourne for a month you'd have plenty of time to go down the coast a bit, you could go down to Apollo Bay and see the Twelve Apostles. You could also go out to Philip Island and there's always the muesums and Victoria Market! Reply to this

Hi Nikki,

A trip down the Great Ocean Road is definitely worth it. You could spend the night at Lorne and then travel down to the Twelve Apostles, Warrnambool and Port Fairy. There's a really great, inexpensive touring company which does the Great Ocean Road, called the Wayward Bus.

If you drive yourself, you could then travel inland from Port Fairy and make your way to Ballarat and Sovereign Hill. Sovereign Hill is spectacular. Alternatively, you could do a day trip from Melbourne, either by train or do a coach trip with AAT Kings or APT.

The Dandenongs are also worth a visit and there are some great wineries in the Yarra Valley.

Cheers,

For starter the night life is FANTASTIC, steer away from the hubs and be brave, go for the little laneways in the city or venture to some of the better live music venues. The free street mags like Inpress or Beat have all you'll need for live music. If you haven't seen a game of AFL, all international guests I have taken loved it, so go to the MCG and see a game. I agree on the Great Ocean Rd, but even area like Warrandyte, on the north end of the Yarra are just sublime. You'll love it... Reply to this
