Just a quick note if anybody could possibly give me a small drop of advice or info regarding visa for Auz. I will be arriving into Australia around Jan 2009 and just wondered is it worth getting a working visa or can work be given on the cuff basically? I plan to stay in Auz for around 3 months or possibly 6 depending on circumstances when arriving etc.
Thanks for any help anybody can give on this query
regards
Jon
Reply to this Hello Jon 😊
I moved this to the Oceania forum.
I think there will be more people here who can answer that question.

Reply to this NZers are free to live and work in Australia but I believe that for any other nationalities a work visa is essential. If you don't have one and are working in the country then you are doing so illegally. If customs believes you are coming into the country to work illegally you will be refused entry. You may be able to get a work visa once already in Australia (I'm not sure though -- it is more likely it needs to be obtained prior to arrival).

Reply to this How much do the work visas for Australia cost anyway?
And what is the current age limit for it?
I worked in New York illegally one time because I did not have enough money for the work permit. I think it is always possilbe to find something illegal to do but it sure limits your choices. I would generally get a work permit if I can.
Reply to this cheers Jo just posted my working visa application now so looking forward to departing cant wait just got a second job now so i am beginning to a very healthy budget forming i guess 6 months may well turn out to be 18 months very shortly see how things go.
