The group is reunited now, after our little break over cordoba and rosario. So am now travelling with simon and stef, rachel and riquaella, honesty and sophie and me and em, so is a pretty big group now!
We got the overnight bus from cordoba to mendoza and arrived to check in to our histel internacional. Me and em then had a planning chille sesh, and literally got no where haha! So we went for a wonder and the girls had falaffels and i had shawarma, solely because ironman talks about it when he wakes up in the avengers so wanted to try it. So mendoza is the least blind/disabled/text and walk friendly city ever! There a foot gap between road and pavement and every so often there are just random drops in the pavement, simon went flying when he was walking and map reading, which was highlarious! That evening we had a chilled night for recovery after a heavy weekend in cordoba, and made bangers and mash with a red wine jus, pretty scrumtious.
Next day we went white water rafting, and i immediately regretted that decision as it was absosmurfly freezing, like arctic cold. This was emphasised
by the fact that we were the only onea daring (stupid) enough to go rafting in low season. Bloody low season! Is all weve heard this trip haha. So we got wetsuits with an edan cheese number of holes and had to wear our own shoes on the boat, mine are the ony ones i have for the whole trip so wasnt mega fondnof that. I couldnt feel my toes within the first 30 secs, and simon fell in in the same amount oftime (we were at the front so got the wettest). Lols when simon fell in his face was sheer panic as he knew how cold it would be. The instructor had emphasised how important it was to hold onto the oar when fall out ofthe boat, and naturally simon managed that for less than a second but was so cold that when he tried to shout my oar, very questionable noises came out instead! Managed to pull him back in the boat and he had a ling stream of snot! Lower down the guy got em to move to the front and we surfed a mini waterfall (face to it) and with em at the front it just filled up the boat and soaked us. Getting out the boat was a massive effort, was like walking on glass as my feet were so cold. The hot showers afterwards were bliss tho, until they turned freezing after about 5 mins! We then went out for steak, everyone was megajeals of my one, coz it was the bestest
. Then chilled at hostel and had bolognaise a la Ector before bedfordshire.
Mendoza is famous for its wine and vinyards so we thought we would sample it! We rented bikes from Mr. Hugos where the owner spoke no english and believed if he talked load enough that we would understand him haha. Simon also started off like he was drunk as he hasnt cycled for 10 years. We cycled 12km to the Florio vineyard which specializes in sweet wines, sweet rose, moscato and marsala(used in tiramisu and creme caramel ice cream). This was my favourite place, we didnt ask any questions in the tour because we just wanted to get to the tasting part 😊. Next was Carinae who showed us there barrel storage, everyone here got into being "knowledgable" (bullshit) about wine so i just started taking the piss by saying "mmmm this is wine", "this ones grapey" and "this one needs another weeks maturing", which i thoroughly enoyed doing! Next was Familia de tomaso, showing us their old tanks where they now keep wine for maturing and we tasted pretty much the same wines (or so i thought) appazza a month or two makes a HUGE difference in taste! Whatevs. We then stopped at a chocolate and liquor place, and tried lemon, mint choc and dulce de leche liquors with grape jam and olive paste, all very nice! To top it off me and simon has a cheese plate, just to be even more pretentious. All in all we cycled about 18 miles in the day which is a fair haul and it back fairly late and crashed.
On our "final" day we went to the thermal baths and went puenting (bridge jump swinging). First on the list was the bridge jump, being a daredevil i was the only definite and had to go first but but em honesty and simon came alog to consider it. They all ended up doing it, me and em managed to jump a fair way with a hefty scream, honesty screamed then crumpled and just fell instead of jumped, and simon looked like he was going to launch himself then on 3 crumpled even more than honesty! Haha. I absolutely loved it, was so exhilarating and got some good snaps! We then went back to the baths and chilled out, so many temperatures. There were a lot of old people, but it was lovely just chilling out after puenting.
We got back from the baths then had dinner and went out for some drinks which was nice but still knackered from all our daytime activities and were planning on leaving early the next day.
I say planning because the bus was cancelled today due to snow on the border between argentina and chile so strande here for at least a day which is gayness. And because we were thinking it was our lat day in argentina we spent all our pesos! Honesty bought some jeans and everyone else just has shed loads if junk food! So went to see men in black 3 which was paverage, some of us fell asleep again! Haha. An going out for a final big steak tonight which should be nice
Hopefully will leave tomorrow morning though as defo feel like weve done argentina and mendoza.
Anyways ciao for now
