Crazy market! We bought fake/stolen Lacoste...
So I fianlly made it to Peru! After missing my connecting flight from Buenos Aires to Lima thanks to a delayed flight from Mendoza. Good things: I got to stay in fancy hotel for free and got free food! So Lima was pretty cool, the short time we spent there. We went to the Gamara, a HUGE outdoor/indoor market. There were literally 10s of thousands of people. Im also pretty sure we were the only english speakers anywhere near there. Within the market there were TONS of video casinos. Zach decided to try his luck at "horse racing" and by that I mean paying 1 sol (about 30 cents) to bet on which mechanical horse would be the first around the 30 year old plastic track. It was the funniest thing ever! (aside from the mechanical elephant rides...) That was pretty much the most Peruvian thing we did... we ate breakfast at Dunkin Donuts, lunch at KFC, and for dinner we had Papa Johns!! (so we were a little American food withdrawn...) After a couple days in Lima it was off to Ica, or rather Huacachina. We took a $6, 5 hour, bus ride. It wasn{t anything special but overall the

People would pick a frog the the worker would cut out its intestines and blend it! Its supposed to cure coughs... Ill stick to halls thanks!
travel experience was great! Huacachina is literally an oasis in the middle of a desert. Everywhere you look there are HUGE sand dunes (the pictures dont do it justice). Yesterday Zach and I went Sandboarding. Think snowboarding but on sand! We went out on dune buggies with about 8 others and the ride alone was INTENSE. The boarding started off a little rough... the first dune I tried a busted hard core. Ive never boarded in any form and didnt know you were suppose to go at an angle! I went straight down and was going so fast I freaked and tried to stop, which made me flip a bunch and get the wind knocked out of me. Not to mention getting a mouthful, earful, and eyeful of sand. After I recovered (my back still hurts today) we went on to the next dunes! Those I went down on my stomach with the board. It makes you go SO SO fast! It was crazy! Zach could do some of em standing up! What a champ! (Side note: A guy who had been married two days and was on his honeymoon lost his ring in the sand and Zach found it!!)

Mannequins need lovin too!
The sunset over the dunes was amazing and we met some cool people too!

So, so far Peru has been AWESOME! Today we are headed to Pisco in hopes of catching a boat to the Balletas Islands... they should be soething like the Gallapagos. MAybe we will get some acutual Peruvian food soon too!
