After 5 year of absence, we are back in Brazil. We arrived here on 26 November and stayed the first few days at the flat of friends. Among the places we visited I would like to mention "Santo Antonio de Lisboa". Located on the Ilha de Santa Catarina, this place is well preserved and still has some of the older houses built by the Portuguese who colonized the island. We arrived at the lovely Tucano hostel on Florianopolis island (which we nicknamed Flopo) in a place called Lagoa, a small town with easy access to many of Flopo´s 42 beaches whilst still having a good night life. After checking into our penthouse suite (see picture) we quickly headed out for lunch. Long bus journeys tend to make one rather hungry. We were recommended the (Cruzcafe) round the corner and were not disappointed after ordering four servings of tenderloin steaks with pasta in a creamy Gorgonzola sauce. Feeling thoroughly refreshed we set of on a search round the island to find one of its many famed beaches. Florianopolis didnt work out as anticipated and we were disappointed to not get to spend more time there. Firstly, our bus which left at 7pm was meant to arrive at 10am, due to traffic jams/accident/not sure what, we were stuck at a standstill on the motorway for close to 2 hours. We didnt end up getting in til almost 3 oclock. The plan had been to have 2 nights and 3 full days here, but due to the fact there wasnt a connecting bus to Uruguay on the Tuesday we had to get the earlier one on Monday day time. I cant quite beleive it has been 1 month since I left the UK. Looking back over this blog I am so glad that I wrote things down, even when sometimes it felt like a chore, because I have seen so many things, experienced so much and had so much fun it really does feel like a whirlwind, and with moving constantly sometimes the lines can become blurred. I havent felt homesick yet which is good but I suppose it is still early. I have missed certain home comforts and have wished I could have Phoebe on my lap many a day but I am enjoying myself and am happy. Diena šiektiek debesuota, kart nuo karto palija ir lietus, tad nelabai kažkur ir norisi eiti. Namie esam tryse, aš, Cristinas, ir vokietis Andy kuris taip pat per couchsurfing apsistojęs pas Cristianą. Nusprendžiam visi pailsėti prieš naujų sutikimą. Tad visą dieną prasėdim namie, dieną dar ir pietų pasnaudžiu. Pasidarom visai šventišką vakarienę ir pavalgę ruošiamės į miestą. Cristianas šiąnakt dirba, tad su mumis fejerverkų neis žiūrėt, tad eisim dviese su Andy. Prie kalėdinės eglutės vyksta populiarių brazilijos muzikantų koncertas. Šiektiek paklausom ir einam ieškoti geros vietos žiūrėti fejerverkus. Žmonių labai daug, užtverta visa pagrindinė gatvė. Kur tiksliai bus fejerverkai nežinom, bet abu spėjam kad turėtų būti ant tilto jungiančio žemyninę dalį su sala. Pasirenkam tokią vietą kur matytūsi ir tiltas ir visas prospektas.
