So, Saturday 5th September finally arrived, the big match, Argentina v Brazil in a World Cup Qualifier. I met my bus at 10am after waking up far too early, and began the long drive up to Rosario. There were a good few buses going up, and i was put with a group af Americans who were a good laugh, but knew little about football, or soccer. The drive was about 5 hours and we stopped half way at a roadside cafe / services. As did hundreds of other fans. It was a cool place, with a huge BBQ outside where i grabbed a huge Choripan (Chorizo Sausage on Crusty Cob) and an even bigger lager. We carried on for another hour before being pulled over by some heavily armed Argentinian Officers who searched us all before ... read more

We had to force ourselves to leave Punta del Diablo and beach life but after a lucky choice of Hostels we were so glad we did. Things diodn't start great when we arrived in Rosario in Argentina, after a long bus journey, at about 4 am in the pouring rain, a kindly local took it upon themselves to aim for a puddle to further soak us whilst we tried to hail a cab, and then we thought we'd be left out in the rain after we couldn't get into the Hostel because the 24 hour reception was asleep! However, once in the the sun came up the next day we found ourselves in a converted home with only around 20 beds and a small pool in the backyard. The 2 guys running the place, Jorge and ... read more

We stayed in dorms with 3-4other Argetinian girls which sorcha didnt like cos they were noisy at night and in the morning!!! I thought they were grand but thats cos theywere nice to me the night before cos sorcha went to bed and i stayed up drinking!!! Cant remember anyones names but they were grand!! Well I have finally made it to Argentina! yeahhhhhh!!! We spent one night in San Pedro de Atacama in Chile before we decided that it was way to pricey for our traveller wallets so we booked a ticket to Salta for the following morning (I was just pleased to have the Chile stamp in my pass port!) Now what could be better following three days in a jeep than sitting on a 12 hour bus journey to Salta. Now I thought the buses up north were impressive but the busses in Argentina are second to none. Its a bit like first class on the aeroplane. Reclining seats (or armchairs) pillows, blankets, dinner, breakfast and an occasional glass of champagne. No joke! The bus journeys have become a real pleasure, which is a good thing because I ... read more
