Flight from Rio to Foz de Iguacu airport took 2 hours its amazing the size of Brazil this flight path took only a very small corner of Brazil. On our arrival we spoke to the tourist info centre who adivsed us to visit the Barzillian side as it is only a short bus ride away. So we put our rucksacks into lockers at the at the airport and caught a bus to the falls. The falls are absolutely a amazing you follow paths to different points of the water falls, as you walk the air is filled with beauitfull butterflies who land on your arms and legs, if you keep still then you can feel them sucking the moisture from your skin. There are also tiny Raccoon type animals scurrying over the pathways they a cheeky ... read more

So the next stop on the tour was definitely a priority for both of us – The Iguazu Falls. The falls are said to be bigger than Niagara and lie just on the border of Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay. We grabbed another overnight bus (this time 18hours, the longest bus yet) from Buenos Aires and arrived in the small town of Puerto Iguazu around lunchtime. Back to warm weather again and I was grinning from ear to ear.It was too late to do the falls so we had a relaxing afternoon with some beers and an Argentinian grill for two. I think you will begin to notice by now that this country is really bad for making ridiculously good food for a reasonable price and we were taking advantage! That evening we managed to get the ... read more

Since our first night with Juan was so much fun, we decided to head out with him again, as well as Raphael the receptionist and the man from the bottom bunk (we never got his name). They took us to a traditional Brazilian bar where we tried to dance to Salsa music (as Juan put it, Lily was a natural with her hips, Amelia was more like a frog... so charming!) After Rapha had to get back so we trusted Juan to pick a good club... not sure whether he was trying to tell us something, or whether his lack of English led him to believe this is what we were asking for, but we ended up in a gay club. Now those of you who know us well, will know seeing men kissing men while ... read more

Orlagh blogging here! After our long journey from Rio, we arrived in Foz de Iguaçu on Monday afternoon. We got off the bus and ran into 3 irish girls Jamie, Michelle and Sarah. We decided to get something to eat and stopped off at a traditional Brazilian all-you-can eat buffet. Afterwards, the girls decided to head over to the Argentinian side (to Puerto Iguazu) where they were staying. We decided to go see the Brazilian side of the Falls while we were there. So off we went with our backpacks (the heat was unreal) to look for a banklink to get cash, which took forever. It can be difficult to find a banklink that accepts international cards. We went looking for a tourist information centre, but it wasn´t where it said it was on the map. ... read more

On ... read more

The day after meeting the Iguaçu Falls in Brazil, we crossed the border and visited the Iguazú Falls, a short ride away but a change in language and a change in title for the same water that runs along the river and over the edge. Entering the National Park in Argentina is a very different experience to that of Brazil, and the time taken to visit the Falls is more than double the three hours that covered the Brazilian side. The main reason being that Argentina has 80% of the Waterfalls and Brazil just 20%. Within the Argentine Park there are three trails for you to follow; an upper, a lower and the trip to the Devil's Throat. We began our day following the lower trail, a route that takes you much closer to the Falls, ... read more

As a birthday treat for Mrs P we travelled back into Argentina and up to Puerto Iguazu via trains, planes and automobiles, or more precisely a ferry, a taxi (with a Falklands/Malvinas vet who shares our "love" for Mrs Thatcher) and a 12 hour overnight coach (a bed on a bus!!!) trip. After several cheap nights in the tent we decided to live it up at the Marco Polo ($45 per night!), poosh hostel with pool and nice brekky with trifle sponges (Kathers had more than her fair share!!) Puerto Iguazu is the nearest town for visiting the falls and thats what we did; Firstly from the Argentine side A large National Park with intricate paths running through the jungle/forest which tease you with various viewpoints of the numerous waterfalls. And for us that was the ... read more

Hi everyone, Yesterday I was at a loss for what to do with my day when one of my brazilian friends suggested a trip to the Three Border Landmarks. I thought great, sounds like a nice day out, when it was then explained to me that we couldn't visit this on the Brazilian side as it was not a safe neighbourhood so instead we were off to Argentina. So, just like that we jumped on a bus, paid our £1.25 and crossed the border to Argentina, hopping off of the bus to get my passport checked and stamped. For the locals, this is a regular bus trip as everything is much cheaper in Argentina and instead of their passports they must just show their identity card. After maybe 20 minutes on the bus we were in ... read more

Having spent our last couple of days in El Calafate just relaxing, doing a bit of laundry here and there and aerating our bags a bit, it was time for the flight back to BA. We had made the decision to sleep somewhere in the airport to save the hassle of finding a hostel (and obviously paying for the hostel), and when we arrived we quickly found a spot where everybody in the airport seemed to be napping so we decided to set up camp there. We soon learned however that log fires are not allowed in airports. We were apparently sat on the exact spot where Carlos Tevez had been sleeping under newspapers for the past however many months since leaving Manchester City. After about 10 minutes or so we were joined by 2 Argentinean ... read more
