Reflection of Cyndi and Dean in a mirror at the Grande Trianon.

The Grande Trianon was built in 1687 so that Louis XIV could escape the court of Versailles. (In the same way that his father's hunting lodge in Versailles became the King's palace so that he could avoid the court in Paris.) Located on the Versailles estate near the Grande Canal, this "cozy" single storey mini-palace is about a fifty minute walk from the main palace. (Napoleon Bonaparte restored The Grande Trianon, and also stayed here.)

Cyndi, Jeff, and I leave early for Versailles. We take the RER (Réseau Express Régional) train from Paris. It takes about 45 minutes to get to Versailles from Paris.
