May 1, 2008 According to the information in the “Lonely Planet” on China, the border with Pakistan opens on the 15th of April, sometimes later. This year the border opened on the 1st of May and I made sure to be one of the first to cross it. I'm Hollander of origin, but have been living in South Africa since 1972. Retired now, I've been traveling by car, Land Rover and others, for the last five and a half years. First through Africa, then Europe and the Middle East towards Asia.
