cars Hmm, a place without cars. Sounds good, I still have to get used to Pretoria traffic again. With regards to the difference between old and new, they don't make 'em like they used to haha. and I suppose any method that doesn't sink the vehicle is an effective way of getting it off the fairy. What would they do with trcuks I wonder?
South Africa South Africa is a great vacation spot for the adventurer. I love it. Much more to do and see. You have to catch the best discount deals at h=the right time. I got great bargains for this link http://travelforadime.com/blog/2010/11/27/travel-bargains-are-out-there-2/
wow hi dad. what a bit of travel! sometimes the different route gives us more than we expected. it seems that, besides the minor hardships and setbacks, you had a great time in tibet. keep well
Sorry I missed you! I was in Guangzhou not so long ago when I had to get out of China and back in again to have the next three months on my visa validated. So I went to Hong Kong for a few days but I must say that a little help to get the connection from the train out of Kunming to Hong Kong city would have been most welcome. It was quite a confusing situation with no-one knowing what "railway station" meant, or "bus" for that matter. Thanks for commenting and I hope to hear more from you.
Pieter
Wonderful to hear from you. Henry,
What a pleasant surprise! Please tell me where you are now, back in the US, somewhere between there and China? Do you have a blog yourself where I can read something about your adventures?
Anyway, nice of you to comment. I'll try to keep my blog interesting and comment like yours is very inspiring.
Best of luck, Pieter.
Have we met? Shirley,
Nice of you to respond to my blog. It's possible that we met someplace, but I don't remember. Maybe you'd like to tell me and, especially if you have a blog yourself, offer me the pleasure to read about you.
Best wishes and thanks,
Pieter
Wow, a very energetic and vigorous MAN! I'm Chinese, and now working in a traveling agency. I love to read all these foreigners blogs traveling to China. Anyway hope you recover well. I'm in Guangzhou and Welcome you to come!
Great entry, Peter! It's Henry from the Hiker Hostel; The young American guy. Great entry! I am enjoying reading your blog. Best wishes for your travels---I have heard great things about Hangzhou as well; I would love to read a post about wherever you are travelling next!
Cheers
My wife and I are immigrants. Ann comes from Sydney, Australia and I come from the Hague, Holland. We have been living for almost forty years in the South of Johannesburg, South Africa. We call ourselves South Africans.
In March 2004 and nearing the end of our working days, we discovered we both harbored secret wishes to see China. One night in bed, my wife saw on the inside of her eyes the almost unbroken landmass between SA and China and realized China could be reached by car.
That´s where it started.
We bought a car, a Land Rover and converted it into a primitive but adequate camper. A... full info
