i had to break down and buy a days internet on board the ship again. it is expensive and very slow, but i have all day to write and no where to go. we are currently in the pacific ocean heading towards kagoshima, japan. our arrival date is thursday, march the 7th. quite a long stretch at sea, but so far the sea is much calmer and i think cyclone oma is finally behind us. i wrote in my last blog that after sydney we would be heading east then north to avoid oma but that was incorrect. oma was making her way east after brisbane so we headed north hugging australias coast line. the passage was still very choppy. i think there must have been quite a few disappointed passengers re. missing the great barrier ... read more

Two Days of an R&R. We have walked a million miles at the 3 ports we have visited. My sore knee keeps reminding me of that. Yoweee. How are you all holding up? Good! Now we have two days of just sailing which will give my knee a tiny bit of recovery. Not much though cause this ship is a big floating city and there is a lot of walking around on it. Plus we have our ballroom dance lessons again. Clump, Drag, Clump, Drag....got that rhythm? Of course, our main pathway we travel is either to the dining room or to the buffet. We switch back and forth but prefer dinner in the main dining room. Just loved to be waited on hand and foot by our dedicated, courteous wait staff. If only we could ... read more

well i am finally cruising! spent a night in san francisco and had a nice meal with caitlyn. my hotel was right beside china town which was beautifully decorated with lights and red lanterns for the chinese new year celebrations. i boarded the ship the next day and spent the afternoon unpacking and exploring the arcadia. we had a champagne sail away from the aft of the ship in the evening. beautiful to see the city all lit up at night. we passed under the golden gate bridge. from the top deck, deck 11, it almost feels like you can reach up and touch the underside of the bridge. so four days at sea until we reach waikiki. the first 2 days were very rough. the mighty pacific ocean. i managed to cope with the help ... read more

“The world is only tolerable because of the empty spaces in it – millions of people all crowded together, fighting and struggling, but behind them, somewhere, enormous, empty places. Man needs an empty space somewhere for the spirit to rest in.” Doris Lessing South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands... I could've categorized the blog under 'South America', but that just didn't seem right. I chose the 'Oceans and Seas' category as I thought it was more fitting. Should I be redefining continents? Why are there seven? I entered an other-worldly land of exotics. I've visited this distant entity many times, and every time I struggle to find words that adequately suit the mood. Prehistoric perhaps? A modern day 'Land the Time Forgot'. The dark skies, stormy seas, ever-blowing wind, towering peaks, dazzling glaciers, and the ... read more

Once far away from the lands of home and once far away from the lands of Virginia, oh travel brings lots of joy and happiness! I was basically just making up that special poet quote about my travels! I took a nice World Nurse Assistant Journey through Philippines Sea Countries as well as across from there to Indian Ocean to Red Sea to Medterrean Sea to Atlantic Seas, etc. I got to see all the ports of call through Cruising! Amman, Jordan; Libson, Portugal; Barcelona, Spain; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Jidahh, Saudi Arabia, Mumbai, India; Bangkok, Thailand; Hamilton,Bermuda, Johannesburg, South Africa; Tokyo,Japan;etc. Unfortunately, my pictures I tried to paste on this message won't let me but I walked around Thailand's Grand Palace, etc. I didn't pay too much money to explore the Grand Palace and the streets were ... read more

The Atlantic, North to South – December 2018 Dawn breaks over my last morning in Barcelona and after enjoying another great buffet breakfast at the Hilton, it’s time to make my way down to the lobby, grab a local taxi to the cruise ship terminal and begin yet another adventure on the high seas. As I left the hotel the rain began to fall, as if the city was crying at my departure (yeah, like that would happen – NOT) – and it continued to come down harder as I approached the World Trade Center Terminal. Arriving here early made check-in was a breeze, and in less than 30 minutes from being dropped off, I was onboard and making my way to the restaurant for an early lunch, while the staterooms were being readied. One of ... read more
