April 7 Can’t seem to stay awake. Yesterday’s four hour nap and last night’s 10 hours snooze and still I’m sleepy and probably dopey as well. Sitting by the Lido pool noting I could easily get in but not sure I could get out. In any case I’m comfortable here watching the people. Everyone must have partied hearty last night because the pool and chairs are almost empty. Very unusual for a sea day. We lost an hour last night so maybe that explains it. While relaxing by the pool my ears were assaulted by loud music. There was an exercise class being held. Why it wasn’t held in the gym is a mystery. I can only hope it’s a short class. I think I am becoming an old fart, or maybe I was jealous that ... read more

April 5 The hotel lobby is rocking. There are five ships in port. Shuttle ride uneventful and then the fun begins. Missed the wheelchair at the entrance so had to navigate check in, then took the escalator up to a packed waiting room. Signed up for a wheelchair and waited about half an hour. By then the waiting room was empty. Had to go to the Lido as the cabins were not ready and now at 12:30 they are still not ready. It’s a beautiful day, severe clear blue skies. My stateroom is spacious. Unpacked and ready to go. Delightful dinner companions .sThere were three of us cat people. Enjoyed dinner, Hake with mussels (2), clams (2) and one shrimp. Delicious pear tart for desert. Decided on an early night, read in bed and enjoyed the ... read more

Morning found Carnival Legend at sea. The Sargasso Sea to be exact. That stretch between North America and Bermuda. We played United States Trivia, which we did well at, but did not win. Enjoying our cabin balcony, we watched clumps of sargassum float by, flying fish take to the air and ships pass on the horizon. The evening was Formal Night, or Cruise Elegant as it is now known. Susan and I first took in the evening show, Motor City, and that was enjoyable with its Motown music retrospective. Dinner was Roast Beef. Surprise dining room entertainment appear nightly, with a singing waiter and the entire service staff sometimes oining in. Cruise lines today take two leisurely sea days to reach Bermuda. (In the era of ocean travel, Furness Bermuda Lines ships were intent on getting ... read more

George is still feeling poorly, but did make it to breakfast. He did not feel like sitting in posh, so we headed to the casino. We have just found a machine that is like the Tipping Point TV program on ITV. Within the coins on moving levels, it has rolled up notes and tokens for bottles of champagne as an incentive for you to keep playing. We spent $30 and it kept us quiet for nearly four hours. George headed back to bed so he can get some rest ready for our trip tomorrow and Theresa had lunch on the balcony and got some sun. As George is still not well, it was a light dinner only in the buffet for tonight. Hopefully he will be up to going out tomorrow.... read more

This morning, George woke up feeling very unwell. Over breakfast he got worse, so we decided the best place for him was back in bed. But not before we attended our second Cruise Critic meet and greet this morning. As it was such a large group, we met in Bliss this time and there must have been about 120 people attending. Of the two meet and greets we attended we both agreed the first was the best. We had brought our gift with us too for the gift exchange, but when we enquired, were told rather abruptly that it was not happening as no one wanted to organise it. We gave the gift to the lady who we met on the plane from London a few weeks ago instead. The event seemed to be purely around ... read more

The last day out was a sea day as Carnival Sunshine sailed from Grand Turk back to Florida. There was time to play trivia and to read. We were sailing off the Abacos, on the eastward side of the Bahamas this time, at the edge of the Sargasso Sea. The sea was full of clumps of sargasso, or seaweed, and tiny flying fish abounded. In midday, there was an ice carving demonstration on the Lido deck. It's always enjoyable to watch as the ice sculptor creates a sculpture out of a block of ice. In the evening, Susan and I had dinner at the Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse, the extra charge restaurant on Carnival Sunshine. A nice conclusion to another great cruise.... read more

Still cloudy! Went for breafast and then decided to ask for refunds on our Vibe passes as we had heard quite a few people had done this due to the weather. Guest services lady very obliging, in fact later that day we received a note to say all vibe passengers had been refunded but were still welcome to use the facility should the weather improve. Took the vibe refund money and some of Alex's casino winnings and booked day passes for the spa for the rest of the cruise, a really luxurious facility with amazing views from the comfy recliners, saunas, steam rooms, pool, hot tubs and a snow room! Now on a couple of ocassions people have mistaken Alex for someone else, during this cruise. I am beginning to think he is leading some kind ... read more

So far the weather has been pretty poor, grey days with wind and rain on some days, so have't been able to make use of our vibe passes. Today started a little brighter, we were rather confused with time changes so totally missed breakfast (not necessarily a bad thing). Had a game of basketball (i won again) the dec ded to brave the ropes course, now this is hard to explain, you have to actually see it but it is a huge intricate network of ropes, ladders, tightropes, balance beams, zip lines and allsorts of apparatus including a 'plank' which you walk out on over the sea, as well as a zipline which whizzes you out over the ocean. You are of course strapped into a harness for all of this but it is still pretty ... read more

OK. I admit it. I love to fly. Not the trek to the airport, or the security lines, not hoping to find a free space in the overhead or that my seat mate might be Samoan.....but when I look out of the window at the clouds or the lights below, it is still magic to me. Here I am at 35,000 feet traveling to another adventure. I do miss the pillows and the blankets, I do miss having room to stretch out but I will be in FL in 2:49 hours. I have my own seat and no one is asking "are we there yet". I hear it's 81 degrees and I think of a pool and green shrubs and I'm a happy camper. In two days I'll be boarding the M/S Zuiderdam where I expect ... read more

Good morning from Bermuda. What? That wasn’t on the cruise itinerary. Actually someone had a medical emergency last night and the ship had to divert here to deliver them to the local hospital. The captain says that if we run at full speed the rest of the way, then we can still get to Ponta Delgado on time. We will just have to see if that works or not. But for the moment we got a brief view of Bermuda (from their shipping channel). Anyway, we went up to the Horizon Court for breakfast and viewing of the tip of Bermuda while we waited for the pilot boat to bring our doctor back. In the meantime we enjoyed a nice leisurely sunny morning and got a small glimpse of some place we hadn’t expected to see. ... read more
