drowning our sorrows before iron bar, goon ina mug is standard.
We headed up to Port Douglas to see the famous 4 mile beach! and of course more importantly to find a job and top up our funds! We found a job in the first few days as house keepers and for the next 2 weeks it seemed like all we did was work work work! but that was the idea! Port Douglas was a really pretty place but there wasn't a lot going on. The beach was gorgeous like something off a desert island with hardly anybody around! We did plan to walk or ride a bike the whole 4 miles but never got round to it! We hoped we would see a croc on the beach as there were loads of warning signs but no such luck the most scary thing we saw was a cockroach waiting on our doorstep for as us we checked into our room!

We stayed in a great hostel and made lots of friends from around the world mainly germany! The cleaning was hard hard work and we hated it, we have both vowed never to make another bed or scrub another hot tub clean! haha but the bonuses where all the free stuff we got to take home out of peoples rooms! The biggest eye opener of the job was the 'cleaning' equipment they use, for example nothing seemed more fitting to them than to clean the toilet with the flannels out the bathroom!!!! and then throw them in the wash... so think twice about using one of them next time your in a hotel! It was also hilarious how the hotel managers treated us as second class citizens shouting at us if we walked through the pool area as we couldn't mingle with all those exclusive guests! And I couldn't forget to mention our very attractive uniforms that were so flattering! After a hard weeks work we wanted nothing more than to go out for a drink at the weekend the one place Port Douglas had to offer was Iron Bar basically an old mans pub glammed up into a 'bar' it was an experience! Live old man bands singing katy perry songs!! But before we knew it our time in Port Douglas was up and back to Cairns it was to start some exciting trips not long till we dive on the reef now 😊
