Graffitti Party
This is a few of us Trinitonians at the Graffitti Party. I swear I am sharing that pitcher. Hey Everybody
I hope people are still checking this page because I do intend to still add stuff even though I'm sort of stationary at the moment. However, there are lots of trips and adventures still to come as all of the international kids want to travel on weekends and there's a big road trip being planned for our spring break, or I suppose fall break over here. Alright so I've been at school for two weeks now and I still feel like I'm on vacation with lectures that are kind of an aggravating whole in my beach time every once in awhile. And it's odd how when you throw a whole bunch of young adults together for two weeks everything in their lives becomes relative. All of a sudden you hear yourself saying " Jen has been acting so weird lately". This about a person you've known for all of five days. But when you're together 24/7 I guess you get to know people pretty quickly, the good and the bad. Anywho, I guess I will start with O-week, or orientation week. Now it's different over here because you do not have an orientation week unless you are staying in
Dave and I
This is Dave on of the Resident Advisors, as you can see they're a little different from our Don's back home. They actually drink. You can see how the writing has moved from the clothing to the forehead. one of the residences, so it's not split into faculties. O-week was interesting to say the least. Very different from good ol' politically correct Canada. There is no worries about stepping on anyones toes let me tell you. Our first day consisted of ice breaker games. Now I don't know about you but when I hear icebreaker I think of those games you used to play at camp like capture the flag or something. Well some of them were like that but there were a few that were definitely not. For one game girls were on the inside of a circle and boys were on the outside of a circle and you walked in opposite directions and when they called a word you either jumped on the guy as he got down on all fours, sat on his knee or jumped into his arms. It was very interesting to have a nice-to-meet-you conversation with someone while they were trying like to hell to keep from looking like you were breaking their back. Oh yeah and during all of this your name was written in marker on your forehead. The next game was like musical chairs except the boys all lay
Wine Tour
This is a group shot at the chocolate factory right before we went on our wine tour. And of course there is a random bunny. on their backs in a circle and the girls had to lay on top of them. The guys really liked that one. Poor Nate (an American exchange student) got out in the first round of what he called "the best game ever". On our first night we were randomly paired up boy and girl to have dinner in groups. My date was 17 and actually yelled out "YES" when we figured out we were matched up. Luckily we got some free booze so the night was not all lost. Alright if I go activity by activity this is going to take a very long time so I'm just going to highlight the fun events. One night was at the university bar where we all wore white t-shirts and wrote on each other. It was called a Graffitti party. I would give some examples of what my shirt says but there were drunk 18 year olds with markers, most of the things aren't very appopriate. Another night we all went out to the bar in bright second hand clothing in different colours and traded clothing so we ended up the same colour at the end of the night. It was called
End of Wine Tour
This is Laura Davy (a Queen's commerce student) at the end of the wine tour trip.We look sober right? a Rubix cube party. These people are creative. We also did some non drinking activities like going to the beach and Adventure World which is more of a place for six year olds but we had fun racing each other on carpets at the waterpark and going down the slides in tubes. I'd just like to let you all know that I am the only person who let her carpet go down the slide without being on it. Can we all say klutz? That brings me to the first week of classes, which was hard to get used to but we finally buckled down...oh who am I kidding I have like 8 hours of lectures and labs every once in awhile. There was no buckling down, two days I spent at the beach, one I went shopping and the other two we played Ultimate Frisbee. Then on the weekend we went partying in Northbridge, where you are not allowed to wear flip-flops for everyone's future reference and danced the night away at a place called the Shed. Make no mistake about it this place was actually a Shed, cla-assy. It also had some overly friendly locals, who were only slightly
Semi Formal Dance
This is Laura, me, Alyssa (another Queen's commerce student, and Philipa (Flip) having a few drinks before the formal dinner. intoxicated. But we had a nice group of big boys who were more than willing to give threatening looks. On Sunday we went dragon boat racing and swimming in Matilda Bay. Four of the guys tried to flip me in the water cheerleading styles but alas I am not meant to be a cheerleader and I mostly just belly flopped. Then when it was our turn to race I got right in there and our team won, you can all be very proud of me and my team now. That's right our mixed team of ten guys and ten girls beat an all girls team, we are the champions. Stop snickering, not all of those girls on the other team can really be classified as girls. Well that's all I have time for. Love and miss you all. Muah!
