In 2006, our family began what we thought was a 3 year adventure of living and traveling in China. But like Gilligan, our 3 year tour turned into something much longer and deeper than we expected. This was just the beginning of our cultural travels and blogs. 3 years turned into 6 years and included a time of residence in South Korea as well. The kids have all transitioned into and out of college leaving us as empty nesters, but not empty of ambitions to continue to explore the world. There was so much rain and fog that the spectacular steep fjord scenery was covered in clouds. Still, it had a mystique of its own.

Hike to Marion Falls

Loud rushing clear blue waters, 3 waterfalls and another swinging bridge on this hike. Fresh and beautiful!

Lake Marion

As seen from Key Summit. Said to be in a "hanging valley" carved from glaciers.

Water taxi

Scenic, fast (20 minutes), and cheap ($5), the water taxi dock was a short walk from our campsite and dropped us off directly at the Queenstown marina. Fun way to travel!

Our last night

Overlooking Lake Wakatipu, we settle in for one last eve in our cozy campervan
