So we were up at the crack of dawn for brads bungy jump....got to the office by about 8, had to wait a little while so we got ourselves some brekkie from across the road to kill the time and calm Brads nerves lol. We had to get a coach to the place he was doing the jump and we paid for me to go as a spectator so I got to join him. I think the coach journey was about half an hour and we had to go up the narrowest dirt track up a mountain to get there, which had me in bits enough as it was! As we arrived we were given a locker to out our things in and then harnessed up and out back to see what Brad was about to ... read more

Skydive complete!! I can't believe I actually, that we actually, did it! It was amazing, one of the most surreal feelings in the world!!! We had to wait around for a while because there were big delays because of the wind...or something like that but it was well worth it. We were taken through to where our divers were and given our outfits. This is when I started to all of a sudden get really really nervous!! I was introduced to the guy I would he doing the skydive with and, well it didn't help the nerves, he was as small as me....maybe smaller!!! I was hoping for some big guy to protect me lol!!! Next we met our photographers who would be diving with us as well, the would jump out at the same time ... read more

So I just had a little peek at TravelBlog for the first in many months, and noticed I have at some point inexplicably been awarded membership of the “TravelBlog Hall of Fame”. I did not know that this was a thing, but it would seem that it is a thing, and I am in it. http://www.travelblog.org/Topics/34398-1.html Apparently only 20 of the 300,000 or so bloggers on the site earn this each year, so I’m utterly baffled as to how I’ve found myself on the list. But thanks!! This is awesome and confusing in equal measure. I suppose I should use this as motivation to finish uploading my Africa journal before I lose it all by accidentally tipping gin and tonic on my laptop again. But I just got back from a little trip to New Zealand ... read more

So yea, next stop was Arrow Town and I think it's one of my favourite places...ever!!! It's the cutest little town with boutique style shops, an old sweet shop, a hotel that could pass as someone's house and lots of historic character. It's autumn here so it's pretty cold and it just reminds me of such a Christmas feel, so strange with it only being April! We had a walk around the town and stopped at a gorgeous little pub/restaurant for some mulled wine. And it was so do yummy, Callahan you would have loved it! We have a winter ritual of mulled wine at lunch in London and it made me think of our lunch breaks lol. I could have sat there forever with beautiful mountains in the background with snow on top, it was ... read more

The bus driver as he was telling us, said "well we have to wait for Mary, not her fault, they told her the wrong place" oh boy oh boy, i thought what will i do if we loose Mary!! Mary arrived, flip flops and all, i am in my 3 layers! she is acclimating to this country well. To the Reillys, she has the adventuresome spirit. Six months of living in New Zealand and I've only been to the South Island once, and just for a long weekend! Not to take anything away from the beautiful Mt. Cook National Park, but I definitely couldn't let that be my only South Island experience. Good thing I've got a bad ass road trip planned for when my mom comes to town. My friend Julia from DC will also be coming to New Zealand this week and joining us for the adventure. Nimarta will be joining us in Christchurch for the very end of this trip and her mom will be joining us in Queenstown for the second half of the trip. One big happy family. Mom has already been exploring Wellington for a few days by the time Julia arrives late on a Friday ... read more

Friday 14th March - they say all good things come to those who wait. After getting stuck at Raspberry Creek and totally waterlogged we luxuriated in powered campsite with hot showers. Blue skies so Tony booked in for paragliding at Three Cones mountain. Paragliding minibus picked us up and drove up the gravel road for what seemed forever. Finally arrived at the take-off point 1100 metres up! Tony was to be the last flight of the season. Teamed up with Rob, the pilot, and got kitted out. Then it was a case of running off the side of the mountain into the wind and soaring. We were lucky that there was some thermals and updrafts against the side of the mountain which gave narrow columns of uprising air. Before long we were above 1100 metres - ... read more

We were given a lie in on the morning of our trip to Queenstown as it was only a short drive from Wanaka. En route we stopped off at Puzzling World for an hour and a half which had loads of trippy puzzles, illusions and an outdoor maze. Some of the games were annoying as I just couldn't get my head around them but the rest of the stuff was really good. As we got closer to Queenstown we visited the Kawaran Bungy Bridge which was the first commercially operated Bungy site in the world. A few people from the bus did the Bungy there and were dipped into the river at the bottom of their jump. We decided to do the Nevis Bungy instead as it was the highest Bungy jump in Australasia and the ... read more
