It's been a fantastic time in Queenstown. Everything i hoped it might be! I stayed a couple of nights in my camper van. I thought i might book in for a few nights at a backpackers. So i'm at X Base at the moment. You get discount that way on other things. And there's plenty to do in this town. For the most part i have been going on hikes around the local area. It's such an amazing place. I just got back from a trip from Milford sounds. They take from QT by coach along lake wakatipu, that runs along the mountain range on the road to Te Anau. Then it takes you to Fiordland National Park. What a fantastic place! You have to see it with yur own eyes. I highly recommend it! ... read more

Published: April 11th 2011Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » QueenstownDetta ar riktigt sjukt!!!! Vill bara skrika! Vi fick ... read more
Auf ... read more

Last day, biked 60K, had an extremely windy 7K, whew. Weather is turning cold, guess it is good last day here. In Queenstown, did purchase some Merino Wool products for myself, that is a main type of sheep they have here and the products are also made here, wonderful stuff. Heading to dinner soon, then flying out early in the morning. Been a great trip, so glad I did it. Will load photos when I get home! Overall the biking here was wonderful, but much more technical than my other two trips. When they say rolling hills, they mean rolling mountians. Learned lots about gear shifting the last two weeks. Cheerio!... read more
The town of parties. I had a week in Queenstown and I could easily of had more. You just kind of get stuck here going out every night. The only problem we had was that we went to the same 4 bars every day and the music was the same every single night, but it was still fun. Their was one bar we really liked and went in at nearly 5pm every day as the beer was $3 and you sometimes get free food. It was called the cowboy bar (nothing gay) just western tunes and we became regulars. It was hard trying to do anything as we were always waking up at about 12, so activities were scarce. Whitewater rafting was top of my list in Queenstown and we did the shotover which was grade ... read more
Saturday 26th March - Queenstown
Published: March 27th 2011Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » QueenstownI heard rain pattering on the campervan last night. That’s the first time I have heard the rain since we have been in the camper We oversleep as the alarm is only set for weekdays. It is still raining quite heavily in the morning. We have a quick breakfast and set off, it is misty and we cannot see the mountaintops. It is good that we got in the helicopter flight across the glaciers yesterday, as it would be impossible today. Possums –Throughout the drive in New Zealand you can’t help but notice the amount of apparently dead Possums at the side of the road. You would think that with this fatality rate they would be an endangered species, but apparently not (there are still around 70 million of them!!). I can only think that the ... read more
Sunday 27th Match - Queenstown
Published: March 29th 2011Oceania » New Zealand » South Island » QueenstownNot doing much today – “day of rest”. It is overcast Di gets up at around 08:00, and I get my lie-in for about an hour, but Di is not the quietest of people in the morning, going in and out of the van, making a noisy breakfast – although I’m sure she wasn’t doing it on purpose!! I eventually get showered after breakfast and I catch up with my Blog, while Di goes to the supermarket. It starts to rain and goes on into the afternoon. We had intended to go into Queenstown in the afternoon, but do not fancy getting soaked and wait around for the rain to stop. Every time it starts to brighten up and we are getting ready to go out it starts to rain again! At around 16:00 the rain ... read more
Queenstown 3/25/11 We woke up extra early, knowing full well we had a long day of driving if we wanted to see Queenstown and make it back towards Christchurch for our flight out tomorrow. It took us four hours to get from Haast to Queenstown. Along the way we stopped to see the Thunder Falls, Fantail Falls and the Blue Pools, the first two were beautiful water falls and later was a glacier river that had a pristine blue color. Queenstown was one of the most beautiful cities I have visited, situated on a lake, the small town looks like a modern version of Italy's Lake Como. We took a gondola up to Skyline, a lookout point with 360 degree views of the city. Paragliders flew from around us and down into the city, it looked ... read more
