A lot has happened since my last post and last visit to New Zealand. Back in Wisconsin, Paul and I had some difficult decisions to make regarding our move, our house, and our cats. After much deliberation, we decided to give our wonderful cats, Bagheera and Zoe, to Paul's Aunt Kathy. She adopted them and she has been taking great care of them. It wasn't easy saying goodbye, but knowing they're with family and with someone that will take good care of them made it easier. We also decided to sell our house. Paul moved to New Zealand to start his new position on June 25th. We had a little going away party and it was so nice to see everyone before Paul left. With Paul in NZ, I was left in WI to finish up ... read more

At 9am we picked up Joel and Chelle from Beachlands and travelled to Karipiro for a McCready family Xmas. We had a wonderful day, the weather was amazing and very hot. We all got burnt sitting under a tree so the suns rays were extremely damaging. The food was amazing thanks to Gill and all her hard work. Chelle had taken down some Xmas presents and we had to play this very funny game to get our present. We all had to take a card from a deck of cards and the person with the lowest card got to start the game. So James chose a present, Evans was next and he wanted James present so he stole it and so the game continued with everyone stealing presents as they liked. It was chaos the chocolates ... read more

We have just had a wonderful surprise visit from Candace all the way from London. She stayed with us for two nights. We had an amazing dinner at Joel and Chelle's on the Sunday night. Kathryn was able to come so we all had a great 'chinwag' Joel cooked the dinner and it was incredible. Lovely fresh fish that they had caught out on the Hauraki Gulf. Joel's dinner was as good as you would get in any top restaurant. We took Candace and Chelle down to Karipiro for a family day. Dad and Aunty Bubbles travelled through from Whakatane. They were both looking so fit and well. We had a lovely lunch and a lot of laughs. Candace and Gill were then flying down to Queenstown for the wedding od Candace's friend Claire. Candace was to ... read more

One night back at home after our four day dash then we took off again, this time in the split. Poor dogs, couldnt come with us this time either, and they love camping. We stopped off at Franks place in Auckland (Eurofix) to talk to him about the wedge, then carried on just past Cambridge. We met three Auckland kombis on their way down, but didnt hang with them for long as they were going straight to Karapiro, and we werent. We found a great little free camp spot between Cambridge and Tirau, on a council reserve, Little Waipa Reserve. There were three other vans already there, and we all spread out amongst the trees, out of sight of each other but close enough to hear of any trouble. Not that we expected anything. The next ... read more
