Busy, busy, trying to get everything sorted while I am away for the next 6mths to a year... so much to sort out and I am running out of time only 12 days to go, 6 of which I am working. Maybe should have taken AL before I left.. not to worry, I am sure I will sort it out! I am filled with a mixture of nerves, excitement, apprehension, thrill of adventure, uncertainty and happiness. Maybe the timing isn't perfect with summer and xmas coming up and all, but now or never... it does work with the med season at the end of my sth American travels and it means I can do carnival while I'm there... all of which isn't set in concrete yet or organised properly but I will work to make it ... read more

We were up fairly early and went to the beach, but El was feeling restless and "unorganised" (this made me smile) so she headed back to pack her bags. She met me after; we picked up wine from the Bottle-O and sat on the park which was full of families and groups of friends playing sport and having picnics. We ended up get getting pretty tipsy after just a few glasses (I'm sure alcohol has a different affect in the daytime). Ellie did us proud and made a wonderful fritata for dinner. I'm really going to miss her cooking but hopefully I've picked up enough tips from her to try a lot of the things at home. We sat and did our last pedicure together - we both kept getting tears in our eyes and saying ... read more

The views while we drove from the Mongolian Tent to our ferry port reminded me of driving through the Yorkshire Dales on a sunny day. "Can I have an ice cream" I heard from the back - all the adults groaned and rolled their eyes as this has become Lian's signature request. The landscape changed from hilly fields (filled with cows), to masses and masses of ferns, tall trees and bushes, as we drove through one of New Zealands Forest Parks. It was an incredible view. We stopped at Coromandel town and picked up a few things from Munchies Deli Bakehouse - anyone visiting the Coromandel really must stop here. El and I oooh'd and aaah'd as we looked at the glass fridges filled with cakes and pastries and the baking rack with bread and pizza ... read more

Got up to get a glass of water in the middle of the night, filled my glass at the kitchen sink by the window and completely freaked out looking in to the darkness, not knowing what was lurking out there. Hurried back to the sofa and dived under the cover. My mind was racing for the next 10 minutes, conjuring up all kinds of horror stories. Being scared of the dark is one thing but I’m sure the alcohol I consumed last night didn’t help. Woke up again at 10am and drew the curtains aside to check out the weather. We were in luck! Gorgeous sunshine. Found a giant shamrock stuffed down my bra from the St Patrick’s day antics last night. Woke Ellie up and made her breakfast in bed again. There wasn’t a cloud ... read more

Sunday 15th March 2009 You would think that I would learn - I don't train for runs and therefore when the application forms are being circulated I should politely pass them on but nooooooooo..... I signed up with a bunch of Hawkins guys to do the 2009 HSBC Round the Bays Run from the city all the way round the bay funnily enough to St Heliers...which is far enough in the car I can tell you. Well actually its only 8.5 kilometres but after a bottle of wine the night before it seems far!! I did manage to do it all without stopping and in a half decent time though and I suppose in retrospect it was fun - I especially like the BBQ and free wine part at the end! Apparently 70,000 people took part ... read more

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you've had a lovely time over the holidays - and apologies to those who didn't appreciate getting a sunny xmas card... hehehehe.. It's a while since we've been in touch but I won't bore you with the mundane details! We finally got our container of goods late in October so the house looks much more lived in - plus we bought bedroom furniture in the sales so we're no longer on the floor, yippee! Work wise, well, it's work... Do I need to say much more? And on the sailing front we've pretty much stopped sailing at Royal Akarana in Flying Fifteens as with the yachting we've been doing we haven't had time! Right, onto holidays! This edition is something of a picturefest, as we thought it was more interesting ... read more

Hi guys, Well the news since the last blog is that after leaving Airlie beach I arrived in Cairns where i was due to board a diving boat for 3 days and 2 nights. However due to our dive master missing the boat we all missed it, so I spent the rest of the day at the lagoon with Ash & Toni before we met up with the other lads. That evening turned out to be my last with 3 of the guys as they weren't coming diving but heading down to Melbourne. So it was a night out with a power hour where you drink as much as you can for $10 in an hour, before an early wake up call to this time actually get make it onto the dive boat. With a 2 ... read more
