the infamous backseat
poor alexa had to listen to our fruity jokes for 3 hours..then again we had to listen to her scaventure hunt plans for 3 hours ;p hey brogans',
Rhetro (an aussie who we met on a rafting trip near Sacramento) picked us up and drove us 3 hours south with gf Nadia and Lara’s old friend Alexa from DC nursing school. We were in a Honda Accord sized car so to say the least we were packed!! We had to sit with bags on top of our laps and at our feet on top of being squished with three across the backseat. We had a good laugh filled road trip down south which is very very desolate. The landscape reminded us of traveling up the 5 north through central Cali. Just open plains with browning weeds and scattered trees. Alexa was a surprise guest that Lara didn’t know was coming for the wedding and she had planned a scavendure hunt for Lara to find her. A lot of the trip was planning this hunt with witty clues making fun of Greg’s (Lara’s husband) junk and smelliness. We finally arrived in Dunsbourough and met up with the wedding party and more…
The next four days were so fun filled with beach going, spear fishing, plenty of laughing and a wedding. Everybody is so nice here and
the feel is a lot more relaxed than California; we had a great time with everyone. Lara and Greg instead of having a honey moon opted to rent this massive house in eagle bay (3 hours south of Perth) and had everyone hang out there. The house was an amazing 7.2 million dollar mansion which had everything you could desire. When you opened the front door you were greeted with an indoor waterfall running down through the house to an outdoor grotto spa cave with a sauna attached. Massive flat screen TV’s lined the walls, a black felt pool table, upper balcony had vistas of the ocean with an outdoor wood burning pizza oven. The woodwork was all custom done and it looked very expensive to say the least. It was called the true north house and it was built to look like the inside of a cruise ship thinking the guests on the owners cruiseliner would stay here before cruises around oceania. It was just an amazing house located a short walk to the sand. The wedding was on this beautiful beach lined with rocks, white powdery sand, and crystal blue waters, in which nobody wore shoes. It was

where wedding was held followed by a reception at the house and I have never seen a wedding that went so long into the night with everybody crowded on the dance floor! It was a wild night and one to not forget anytime soon. The wedding was perfect it went so smoothly and was so much fun much credit to Lara and Greg and family. I commented to someone that weddings in the states it seems people can’t wait to slither off. But here you nearly have to kick people out of the house to get them out!
One of the main highlights for me on these couple of days was snorkeling and spear fishing with Greg and Greg’s sisters boy friend, a Canadian, named Dan. It was just the three of us off on the hunt! I felt like I was in a primitive tribe and the men were off to claim a bounty for the tribe or else they would starve. It was a little scary knowing there’s so many sharks out there but it made it all the more fun. The visibility under water was as far as the eye could see (or primo as the boys and i would

nadia and rhetro (rhett) say) and the colors were so vibrant made up of greens, purples and browns. We actually caught a huge fish when we were out there called a dusty mol, which I guess isn’t the best eating, but it tasted pretty good in my fish burger to me! It must have weighed in at about 10 lbs or so, it was a good sized fish in which I got to carry in 200 yards, bleeding, with sharks on my tail!!! Well, didn’t quite see a shark but this massive sting ray was chasing us...i mean massive, I have swam with some pretty big rays but this one must have had a 7’ wingspan! It was fun at first we were pointing and smiling through our masks but then the lil fucker kept following us and chasing us, I guess he wanted that fish pretty bad. It didn’t faze Greg that much but Dan and me swam as fast as we could back to shore with dead fish smell in tow and finally lost him. Im pretty sure we made some girly squeaks on the paddle back in lol.
The last night at the house was pretty fun as well as
brent
i missed him dearly! ha we made pizzas in that outdoor pizza oven. Everyone had their own take on what kind of pizza they made and then we shared them all and they were all very diverse and delicous; i would have to say some of the best pizza i've ever had in my life! Then we sat around on the top deck and the Americans and Aussies swapped funny stories and laughed the night away. I thought my crew drank a lot but these Aussies from Perth put them to shame, sorry boys. Also Lara’s brother Brent was there who lives in Brisbane so it was cool seeing him again since we came from the same “block” in the park. His son Seth was pretty fun to play with. I put him on my shoulders one time and i swear for the rest of the trip he called me shoulders. More adventures to come…
