Brisbane
from south bank..i think maties,
We said our sad goodbye’s to everyone and made our way back to Perth with the road trip crew. Rhett and Nadia had dinner plans with family so they dropped us at 6pm or so and our flight was at 11:15pm. So we had a few hours to kill at the port and then I learned that Brent had the same flight as us going to Brisbane! Weird. We sat two rows behind him the whole flight flicking each other every time we walked by to go to the bathroom.
The day we landed in Brisbane just happened to be Australia day which is like our 4th of July in the states. So after we hopped on the train and hiked it up to the camper van spot we found out it was closed! Ugggg! We went back and forth on catching a train to the sunshine coast but we opted to get a hostel in the city and just wait for tomorrow to depart. We only got two hours of sleep on the plane so we were quite tired and slept right through Australia day. Well we woke up to yelling in the halls from drunken people
brisbane
was ok sydney is better! but caught a lot of sleep.
After a few calls and some hostel staff help we decided on a camper van company called space ship. We lucked out because it’s a real nice van according to the ones parked around us now. Wick Campervans are super popular but they look way ghetto. Our van looks like a Toyota Previa, you know the dust buster looking mini vans but it’s even better its bright orange and white!! So sweet ha-ha. But it is on the newer side and its equipped with a heap of stuff including: 2 gas burners, kitchenette set, rig on the side to hold the stove, small refrigerator, rear storage, automatic trans, DVD player/TV combo, a bed extender so u can sleep out the back with a tent cover, and a full size bed in the back!! Not too shabby!!
We arrived in Noosa today in our van which is on the sunshine coast and caught some well deserve beach time and a dip. We settled in to this car park right on the beach and caught an amazing sunset!! Other camper vans surrounded us and it seems like we’re all going to spend the night
here. I talked to some locals and they said the ranger comes around at 5:30am so will see what happens. So right now I’m laying out the back on our extension thing listening to the waves, surrounded by palm trees with the city lights just across the bay getting struck by lightning and Johnny on a rock looking up at the stars… Rough life
continued..
Mc D's is so popular out here there is nearly one on every block it seems; but one good thing about this is they have free Wi-Fi so we have visited quite a few on the way down. We are just south of Cumerlin Breach right now, we were sleeping in this cool bay there but the cops kicked us out of the lot! So we drove south a ways and pulled up in some service station to sleep by other truckers.
Our last day in Noosa we opted for a hike in Noosa National park and took the coastal route. Lucky we did because we came across some real secluded gorgeous coastline. When I say secluded I mean nude beaches and when I say nude beaches I mean naked dudes standing
ginger factory
honey and beer around chatting and when I say dudes I mean 80 year olds flapping in the wind lol. Na it was a mix but the beach I think called Alexandria beach was so nice, I mean same old but just amazing white sand and crystal blue waters and sand that stretched forever! We hiked up and over into this small tiny cove that was super secluded and a pain to get to but it reminded me of a beach in Thailand from the movie “The Beach.” In total the hike was 10k which is about 6 ½ miles in the blistering heat but we could jump in for a dip anytime we wanted.
After our hike we headed south in the creamsicle van and just pointed on the map to a cool looking spot called Victoria point. It was near some offshore islands so we thought it might be a sweet vista. It ended up being pretty nice and we actually got rained on pretty good but the creamsicle held tight! On the way down we made a quick stop by this ginger factory; love my ginger. We just picked up a few items like ginger beer, ginger candies, and eucalyptus
honey yum yum.
After our make shift showers in the water spigots we headed back north to the koala sanctuary which is home to 130 koalas. We had to take so many freeways and got a bit lost we said forget it and stopped at VB brewery for a tour. There were no tours until later so we decided to make the trek back up to the koala thing. After some careful navigation and like 11 highway changes we made it to the damn thing! The zoo was really cool it was pretty much in a forestry area so the animals were in their natural habitat. They had crocs, koalas, roos, taz devils, birds, snakes and the usual barn type animals. We attended a few presentations and got to take pictures while holding a koala which was bitchin! Another highlight was the kangaroo park where these kangaroos had a massive amount of land to roam around on and we got to feed and pet them! It was super cool experience!! But on the other hand we had to go to a zoo to see some wildlife!! I guess koala populations are down really low to 50,000 because of forest
noosa heads
sunset from car park clearings and im not sure about the roos but I know they get hit by cars a lot.
After the zoo we headed south towards Sydney…more to come
