Saturday - March 1st 2008 We decided to take a walk to Oxford Street which is a classy street not to far away from the university. I trusted that Brittany knew where it was and it wasn’t to far of a journey for us to be able to do. When we told a couple of people in the house that we were headed there, they looked shocked that we would attempt to walk that far. This scared me a little that we had bitten off more than we could chew, but it was a sunny beautiful day and we decided to go for it.
On the way to Oxford street we walked through a park that had the coolest playground…ever! It wasn’t a very large playground but it had some of the coolest elements. On one end there was a climbing section with holds on it. Then there was a weird cargo net-ish area with a weird swinging seat. I use the term weird because I didn’t really understand the purpose or best use of it. It also had these seats on screws that you could spin up and then ride down. On the other end there was an
Coral Cake
It looks so real but I didn't find this in the ocean. It was in a classy cake shop on Oxford st. angled ridged surface that you could climb up but it tipped side to side as you climbed it. I think what I liked most about this playground was how functional it was. Each person could use it to suit their own desires and interests. It left so much up to interpretation and didn’t really dictate how you had to use each of the elements on it. I feel like the imagination and innovation aspects of playgrounds aren’t as easy anymore. Most of the playgrounds that I’ve seen recently have specific elements that basically tell you what you have to do on it.
Once we walked along many of the classy shops on Oxford street we came to the place that we had been walking to all morning. The Paddington Market. This is made up of venders of clothing, food, knick-knacks, paintings, and other odds and ends. I would have to say this is one of the classier markets that I’ve been to in Sydney. At one of the booths there was a cool beater style shirt that had one strap replaced with a vintage style tie. Another vender made notebook cover and several different styles of bags out of

After the market we had one more stop to make. On a bus the other day Brittany saw a Cupcake bakery along Oxford street that she was dying to try. So we walked a little farther down the street hoping we would come across it. Finally Brittany saw a little girl in a stroller devouring a cupcake. She blattenly pointed at the girl and said “She has one, we must be getting close!” And there it was the cutest little cupcake bakery. So we stopped and each got a cupcake. Michelle had a chocolate cupcake with buttercream icing and a pink rose on top. Brittany had a chocolate with chili pepper and chocolate icing. I had a carrot cake with cream cheese icing. We also found the little “tea garden” out the back of the shop to fully enjoy our tasty morsels. In the garden there was a lattice roof that had real grapevines and grapes hanging from it. Brittany the amazing photographer that she is took some amazingly artful pictures.
After spending most of the day in a classy part of time we got to spend our evening in an even classier matter. We

Here I am spinning on the playground equipment. DOn't judge the photo because I took it of myself while holding on for dear life because it was spinning very fast. had tickets to go to the Opera House playhouse theatre to see As You Like It. Everyone met at Mandelbaum House and then we walked to the train station about 10 minutes walk from our house. Our group was made of Sam, Sarah, Nicole, Brittany and myself. Some of us had cute flats, some had heels, and some made the wise decision to wear thongs (flip flops) and bring heels in a bag to change into once we got close to the Opera House. We stopped in front of the Opera House to take token photos of the group all dressed up in a classy place. Once we got inside I was slightly disappointed that we were only in the small playhouse and not getting to see the big inside of the Opera House but it quickly gave way to shivering and goosebumps. No I wasn’t cold. I was so excited to be seeing an awesome show in an incredible place, and in Australia no less. The play itself was very fun, a little different than I expected, but very fun. I expected the play to be set in the Shakespeare period but it was changed to a more modern
day perspective. I still loved it. One of the highlights was the full cast tininkling scene. (Most of you may not know what it is but I know my professors and classmates should. Rosie I thought of you immediately and told my friends at the break that I had to tell you about it.) Another one of the highlights for me was the lines and scenes that flashed through my head from the time that I was a part of the As You Like It done at my church. “Sweet Phoebe, pity me!” Also there was the group dance scene at the end that looked like so much fun and made me so jealous that I’m not in theatre productions and places where I can dance and have that much fun all the time. It was such a classy evening and such a good time!
