Just like we planned. We celebrated an early Christmas with our family yesterday. A joyous time with our dear ones. They came from near (Scio) and far (Rochester). We had enough food to hang a “Golden Corral-aka: The Trough” sign out front. Everyone was welcome. I’m not sure if you all got that word. We’ll do better next time. Lulu was thrilled to be a part of the celebration.....she just loves festive events. There was even a slight coating of snow on the ground that added to the mood. As in the words of Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney: ???“I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas.”??? After everyone left, we scurried around like busy chipmunks. The family had all helped in putting some things away. We had our last minute stuff to mark off our departure list...list”S”...somehow ... read more

Our farewell was said to the Sleep Inn at 9:06 AM. No tears were shed. It’s cold outside and very overcast. Winter garb still being worn. Cory even put on his warm winter jacket. He hates to give in. He hung our new pumpkin head decoration in the window of our car......just for the pleasure of passerby’s. Booooooooooo. We sailed along on Rt.81 at a nice clip. Not too fast and not too slow. We sang a couple traveling songs with Lulu belting out ??Take Me Home Country Roads??with the thoughts of West Virginia looming up ahead. Whoa....not so fast, girlie. Slow her up, Bucky! We have encountered a major delay in our travels because of a terrible MVA with a fatality. Sad. We actually had to come to a standstill on the highway. We just ... read more

The ability of the human body to replenish and restore stressed muscle tissue is an amazing thing. I must confess that after yesterday’s bike ride I was totally exhausted. The ride started out immediately with very steep ups and downs and continued for at least the first 20 miles. By that time my legs were burning and it was just a matter of survival to finish the day. Naturally there was a steep three mile climb near the end. It was a very tough day. I woke up this morning feeling sore and apprehensive about today’s ride. Thankfully and unexpectedly the legs seemed fine and the 56 miles and 3500 feet of climbing weren’t nearly as bad as feared. Bruce and I had a splendid day! We were on the “Wilderness Road” for most of the ... read more

Vielleicht hätte man noch etwas im Museum gesehen doch the streets keep you rolling.

Second Day: Got off on Thursday almost an hour earlier than we expected - - off @ 3:40 PM. We left Thursday afternoon to avoid a 650+ mile Friday. Made it to Pelham, AL by about 8 PM. Had a scare when I couldn't get the top to go up - - CRS is really playing havoc with me! Had the trailer master switch in the wrong position. Everything is working fine now. Had a very comfortable night in a quiet campground. Slept in today and got on the road about 7:40. Drove 459 miles to Wytheville, VA. Had some pretty heavy traffic in Birmingham, Chattanooga, & Knoxville. Found our KOA and were able to set up without having to unhook the trailer (second night in a row - - hope that keeps up!). 527 miles ... read more

COMING HOME Day 27: May 25, 2013 It wasn’t very good, of course, but I had a rather extensive breakfast at the greatly overpriced Holiday Express in Wytheville, VA. I left the room with all of the lights turned on, the TV set blasting away, and the thermostat set as low it would go; making sure to check out at the front desk so that there would no confusion about a stayover. I did not clear my dirty dishes from the breakfast table. That is a job that the silly-assed manager with the glass earrings could be doing instead of looking at himself in the mirror as an object of great beauty. He seems to have missed the point that he is not running the Waldorf Astoria; it will never be anything ... read more
