We had several hours to kill. Glenn needed to get some gas. So while he filled up the tank at Kroger's, I went into the grocery store and got some lettuce and cheese for our upcoming Virginia Ham Sandwich.We also had time to do a letterbox. i spotted a werewolf. i spotted a werewolf. it was just dusk on a dreary evening and the air was dead still but sticky from the days heat and afternoon shower. i was walking East towards home on a sidewalk id traveled many a times. it was a bumpy section of concrete pathway, the kind you get when century old oak trees heave their roots upward. there was a dilapidated rock-wall on my left that lead to an overgrown yard with knee high grass and shrubs hiding the windows of the moldy white house. there was a dim light on in the upstairs window and a shadow passed. i thought it odd because id never seen a car in the driveway or any signs of someone living there but i turned my gaze back in front ... read more

Getting in the mood

Continuing our journey up the Blue Ridge Parkway - we've been driving North about 40 miles a day and hiking/camping along the way. We're in Lynchburg VA at the moment...not sure how the town got its name but im watching my neck. Rainy morning and it looks like it will continue to be a rainy day. Our hope was to explore and hike another section today but its 11am and we're hanging out in the screen house (*with rain proof walls). No immediate rush to move on, i think this will turn into a driving day which means we're getting even closer to home which means the trip is even closer to coming to an end, boohoo. the last few days we did some good hikes with great weather. Late Friday we recieved the following email (translation pack your bags!) "Based on the date that your documents were turned in CCCWA, we believe a travel approval for you family has been mailed!..... Option 1: Leave around February 8-10 and return somewhere around February 23-25. Option 2: Leave around February 15-17 and return somewhere around February 29 to March 2 Please note that travel dates will not be confirmed until we have a Consultate appointment for your family." So long and short of it, we haven't yet received our travel date but it's just around the corner! If I have a choice I'd go for the 8th but it's really not up to us, we go when they tell us to go but please...please...please be the first date!... read more

Well have to say this is a first for me, work with computers all day long but spend all my time behind the sceens keeping things running so with this blog I guess I'll have to learn about this side of things. We're setting up this blog to keep a journal of our travels back to China. This will be our second trip, going to get our 2 new daughters. This will be Jasmine's first time back to China. We are about one week away from our departure date for our "crazy around the United States in 3 weeks roadtrip." This post is just to let you let you know a little bit about our trip beforehand and some of our plans and also to introduce ourselves!
