July 22nd, 2013 9:00 pm Day 13 Our day started by picking up our bag lunches at the host motel. Today started our tours, destination Bryce Canyon for a total of 153 miles. Now we know why they call it the Canyon Lands Tour. We will let the pictures tell the story of our day. On the way back to Kanab we did encounter another thunder and lightning storm, this one was a short one. We were prepared, we put the curtains on the car before the rain and some small hail fell. Then we attended the 10:00 am Church service at the United Church Fredonia/Kanab. We came back to our motel until time for the Model T Show from noon until 3 PM in downtown Kanab. There was a picnic at Jacob Hamlin Park For all the tour people where we got a chance to talk to old friends and met some new people. At 8 PM all the T's drove down Main Street for the residents to see. Before returning to our motel we gassed up for tomorrow's tour to Bryce Canyon, 153 miles. Jacque & Mae... read more

July 20th, 2013 8:40 pm MDT Day 11 After breakfast I checked speedometer to see why it stopped working. After checking cable and 2 to 1 gear box everything was working, hooked cable to speedometer and it's been working fine all day. Then we went to host hotel to check on the dyno. testing, they were not set up yet. We came back later and we were the first one to test. Since the altitude is around 5,000 ft. 25% is added to the test readings. Our car tested out at 14.01 hp at the rear wheels, adding 25% = 17.51 hp to rear wheels. They said that was good. We watched people coming in to register for the tour. Two of the registrants were our own Keystone Cops Members Don & Carol Manherz. Don carries ... read more

July 19, 2013. 8 PM MDT Today was a catch-up day. Did laundry, cleaned car, which was very dirty after being in a rain storm. Those wire-spoked wheels are not fun to clean. We went to the Host motel and registered for next week's tour which will run Monday through Friday. While Jacque was polishing the brass on the T, two men stopped by to talk. The one man from Tennessee said he had passed us on the open range yesterday during the rain storm. We had pulled to the side to put the curtains on the car and he blew the horn as he passed with his car in a trailer. He was worried about us making it to Kanab and looked on several of the motel parking lots hoping to see our car. The ... read more

July 18th, 2013 Day 9 We left Cortez, CO. @ 6:00am, getting an early start since we had 373 miles to Kanab, UT. We went to The Four Corners Monument which is where 4 States meet, AZ., NM., CO. and UT. We arrived at Four Corners Monument at 6:55 am and there was a line of cars waiting to get in. Monument opened at 8:00 am, then to get photos you had to wait your turn. With approximately 335 miles left to go, we decided to continue on. We had to back track 5 miles to route 41 toward Bluff, UT. From Bluff, UT. To Kayneta,UT. is a scenic by-way. When we got to Tuba City, AZ., while topping off gas tank, an Indian asked where we were going, told him Kanab, he told us that ... read more

10th May Arrived at the Grand Canyon. Booked in and set up the tent and then drove over to the visitors centre to check it out. There isn't anything to add about it that hasn't already been said, only those who have seen it really understand - its awe inspiring and big! There are specific view points with numbers of people taking pictures, but its easy enough to get away from the crowds. We were surprised that within a country where you can't do any free thinking without being told, with signs for everything and everyone seemingly obeying them, that the edge of the canyon was accessible to anyone brave or stupid enough to get as close to as one wanted. 11th May We had booked a day rafting down the mighty Colorado. Got up at ... read more

The only thing left of the ghost town of Johnson is a small cemetery. But nearby is is an old ghost town movie set that was home to Gunsmoke and over 50 movies. It is privately owned and is fenced off. The site is located 10 miles towards Lake Powell from Kanab, and then 5 miles up Johnson Canyon.... read more

(English version on the bottom) Liebe Verwandte und Freunde Ich sitze im Schatten hinter dem Haus von Tom und Grace in einem ruhigen Quartier von St. George. Wir erkunden d... read more
