Golden is a small town about 7 miles NBW of Mineola, Texas which is the larget town in the area. Golden, Texas is a small town of less than 200 population located about 7 miles northwest of Mineola in Wood County. Travel north on Highway 69 about 6 miles and look for the sign to Golden which is off Hwy 69 and located at the intersection of State Farm Roads 1799 and 779. According to history the community reached it’s peak population before WW1 when there were around 300 citizens. The area supplied rail road ties for a new railroad under construction from Greenville, Texas to Mineola, Texas in the 1880s.
