So bear with me if there are misspelled words and the grammar is incorrect. Thanks for reading. On Wednesday, after a French Toast Breakfast that Carol served us, Glenn and I had a 10am appointment to connect up with Whitney and her kids at Pullen Park in Raleigh, NC. Glenn filled up the RAV 4 with gas and we got to the Park early. I had noticed the day before that there was a letterbox in the area. We scouted that out and found it.Pullen Park was GREAT. It reminded me of Sherrie's park in Topeka with a small train ride around the whole park. There was ... read more

MapQuest estimated my trip from High Point NC to the North Carolina State Fairgrounds Campground in Raleigh NC at about 90 miles with a travel time of 1-3/4 hours so there was no need to rush my departure from the Oak Hollow Family Campground on Wednesday, November 13, 2013. The trip was uneventful until I reached the main entrance to the fairgrounds complex. I circled the complex but saw nothing of a directional sign for the campground. I really didn’t want to tow the Pilgrim on an off-road scavenger hunt but had no other logical option. In my travels through the fairgrounds complex, I spotted numerous horse haulers and a flurry of activity at the horse arena – I put that on the “check out later” list. Eventually, I found the campground adjacent to a road ... read more

The weather here in North Carolina is fantastic (at the moment)...the temperature hit 72 degrees today and has been up and down from the mid 50s to the mid 70s. Like they say..."It's North Carolina Weather...if you don't like it, hang around a few hours and it will change!" As a resident of Raleigh, I can assure you that you will not have time to visit all the historical places, the fun, places and the educational places Raleigh has to offer. However, here is a link to some fantastic events that will occur in December and depending upon your stay dates, you may like to take advantage of several events. (http://www.visitraleigh.com/events/). There are links from this page for family events as well... (http://www.visitraleigh.com/things-to-do/family-friendly/). Durham, only 20 minutes from downtown Raleigh, has the American Tobacco Campus which ... read more

Today we had a leisurely morning , because we had a late night with counting crows concert celebrating the 40 anniversary of ragbrai . Tork (our host) laid out a wonderful breakfast for us to get our day going at 8 am, where we had a nice 10 mile ride on the cedar river trail to get down to the start of ragbrai with breakfast on the bridge. We started with some Czech pastries, delish! Then straight up hill , got our thighs warmed up real quick! It didn't stop there, with the wind and the hills it was a very big day for our quads! We stopped in mt Vernon and saw the beautiful Cornell university and of course sampled some French toast from sweet delights . So many riders today we think a lot ... read more

Another day of training for everyone in the heat. We are getting up really early and riding. Got a few things for the trip yesterday, fluid powder to put in our water bottles to help with electrolites and some yummy jelly beans to snack on while riding. The crew at the Trek store on Durant were sooo helpful! They looked over our bikes to make sure we are good to go, of course I had to have the brake pads replaced already :) I'm a cautious driver! And so excited about my new phone holder that attaches to my bike so I can play music, answer the phone, skype all kinds of fun things to do while riding!! Hope to down load pictures this weekend of everyone!... read more... read more
