Our best read blog since we started cruising 3 years ago has been about Carolina Beach. As we wind the film backwards we are taking another look at CB and finding things are looking up here. From our narrow boaters perspective... there are now mooring balls! Woohoo. We read about them in a boating mag a few weeks ago. Without this heads-up we might have been hesitiant to come here again and drag boat butt onto another shoal. A problem for cruisers in civilized or developed harbours is that the harbour has been dredged. That should be good. But unfortunately when the bottom is dregded it doesn't leave anything on top of the clay pan to grab onto, except maybe a thin layer of sediment, which is a bit like trying to anchor in chocolate pudding. ... read more

With the arrival of new pictures we would like to say more about the special folks in this time and place. Sorry for the high sugar content in this entry, but these people turned a bad experience into an unforgettable holiday. First we say hi to the good doctors, Eddie Rosado and Michael Murphy and the staff at the Shoreview Urgent Care. Thanks to you, Frank is doing great. We send hugs and kisses to Joanne Morgan for standing by us, tooting us around, and supplying these lovely shots with her 35m yardsale camera! Our times with Ted and Diana were sparkling memories. Apparently we're just not the daily blog type of folks. This is no surprise to me because my journals sometimes skip months or years. Frank says he hasn't started yet. Perhaps we've been too busy getting about, with not much time to reflect. For years my photos were called 'mood' pictures because I only got the camera out when it was too rainy or foggy to do anything else. Hopefully this has changed a bit but I notice that most of the pics are BLUE. Our last blog was at Mile Hammock Bay. So we now miraculously reappear at the lovely, upbeat Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Due to unfortunate circumstances... there will be time to blog.
