its our last day in New York and we have had a great time. Went to the Gugenheim yesterday and have to say it was a little disappointing after the other wonderful galleries we have seen. It is still an amazing building though. Had a number of interesting subway expriences which will provide the stories of the future. Went to MOMA today which was really great - it's hard to pick the best gallery we've been through but this was for me the best contemporary gallery. Walked around Chelsea and 5 th Avenue to complete the New York experience. Now in New Jersey in airport hotel ready to start the journey home tomrrow just added how many hours it is going to take - ?... read more

Back at home enjoying my children and grandchildren at the beach…..doesn’t get better than that for me….but while they’re sleeping, my thoughts go back to this trip and what it meant to me. The last evening in Warsaw there was a dinner at a nice Italian restaurant in Warsaw (raviolis and perogies really are the pretty much the same thing) and people made short speeches thanking the organizers and sharing their appreciation for the diversity of the group (first time they included Americans and other English speakers), and lots of pictures were taken. It was very warm and friendly. After one more delicious buffet breakfast with Meir and Rita, I flew from Warsaw to Toronto where we had 2 hours to catch our connecting flight to Newark. That did not go so well. Our flight was ... read more

Day 18 - Virginia Beach to Jersey City It's a long drive from Virginia Beach to Jersey City and we had hoped to start out with some historical sites just north of Atlantic Ave. We found out, however, that they are within the boundaries of a military base, and Tony impressed the guard at the gate with the excellent turning radius of our rig. On our way we went over/through the Cheasepeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. It was considered one of the greatest feats of engineering in the 1970's when it was designed and built. It has 4 man-made island that are connected by 2 tunnels and 3 bridges to span the Cheasepeake Bay. Tony has been excited about this bridge since he first started planning the trip. We stopped at the viewing platform (and restaurant) on the ... read more

Just sit down with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy visualizing you with me on this summer vacation. Waving bye to Sophie and closing&locking the doors as I head towards the taxi. Sometimes there is just so much history right in your backyard. Located right in between Newton and Andover is Kittatinny Valley Staet Park. This 5,656 acres park can provide everything from group camping to hiking, geocaching to hunting, fishing and running with a mix of a bit of interesting history on the side. One of my all time favorite places to run, this park has trails that range from hilly to flat, perfect for leisurely biking as well as some intense mountain biking! One of the newer State Parks, Kittatinny was even acquired until 1994 but what comes with it is a rather rich history. What is now the office building once was a small little house built in 1825 from the area's limestone for a Sarah Hill. After Hill it feel into the hands of ... read more

Located in Stanhope, NJ is one of my all time favorite places in northern New Jersey. The beautiful, scenic canal town that is now a living museum is astounding in every way. No matter the day, season, weather or time the village is a stunning blast from the past. Slowly being restored by the State Park's Department, the village can be seen brimming with life during the school season as kids come to learn not only about the Canal Town but also about the Lenape Village which is a reconstruction of what life would have been like for the Native American's that had lived in these neck of the woods. Wildlife abound, you could find a turtle emerging from the canal or vernal pool in hopes of finding a nice spot to lay her eggs or ... read more
