We had our show in Billings today. Uncle Ron came, and that was fun. The crew certainly wasn’t my favorite to work with, but it was the most evenly-focused show thus far. Throughout the day, our goal was to pee straight water, all the way clear. We decided that we get a point if we get a “10” on the color scale, but never fully decided if it was on the honor system or if we needed to have it checked for legitimacy. Lots of funny things happened tonight, including my very big curly hair. But, honestly, I’m very tired. Sarah is having a slumber party in my room with Jenn, so we may not sleep, but we’re driving tomorrow and hopefully will have time to write. And Sarah’s new nickname is Merff. Don’t ask. 44 Fun Facts from Monday! 1. I set my alarm earlier than necessary, which led to both Sarah and I being awake and not moving. 2. This led to a rock-paper-scissors game to see who had to get up and take the first shower. Sarah did it and had rock. I laid there a bit to figure out what would cause me to not have to get up, so I said I had scissors. Sarah showered first. 3. But not before piling me pretty high with all of her pillows. 4. It was our last meal in Spokane, and with Mike, then lots of packing. 5. Sarah and I were SUPER funny this morning! 6. Starting at 7:03 A.M. 7. We went to LC to drop of Mike and saw a few of the kids who ... read more

Not much to say today. Spent most of it driving across Montana back towards Wyoming. Went via cowboy town of Billings and ended up at Little Big Horn. Saw where those nasty redskins massacred those poor cavalry boys and General Custer. Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse and the gang picked them off over two days, until they got Custer at his last stand on top of the hill where the monument is. Still chilly and snow about the place. It is a pain really, all nuisance value as there isn’t enough to ski in or hire a snowmobile, which are for hire everywhere. ... read more

Geo: 48.6829, -113.799Sunday, October 12th - From St. Mary drove up GTTS Rd. and hiked from the Sun Point Nature trail on by Baring Falls, St. Mary Falls, then to Virginia Falls (icy) then back to Sun Point. Drove to East Glacier looking for motel, but none were available, so drove on to the Izaak Walton Lodge (expensive and no TV) in Essex, MT, along the Southern edge of the park. Asked at the desk there and was directed to the Glacier Haven Inn (cheaper and with a TV) for the night. Dinner was at Izaak Walton Inn dining room. The inn is a really nice place but right on the side of the railroad. Many trains pass very close - so nice place if you like trains. Originally built by the RR company in the ... read more

Geo: 48.6829, -113.799Saturday, October 11th - Attempted hike to Bertha Falls in Waterton Lakes NP but it was too snowy. Drove back to Many Glacier, hiked around Swiftcurrent Lake then did Apikuni Falls trail. Drove on to St. Mary. Motel - Red Eagle Motel - interesting place. No one on duty but sign said rooms available with a phone # to call. We called and got a room - we were the only ones there. On checking into the room, Anne looked out the window and noticed water pouring from the second floor. Turned out to be frozen pipes on second floor, fortunately not affecting our room. The motel had a TV - with two very fuzzy stations. All this for $80 per night - but an experience and maybe better than $250 at the only ... read more

Back once again in the States we stayed overnight in a little hick town called High River where we had to access the internet to book Lani a shuttle from LA to Irvine. At Calgary airport it was going to cost her $25 to use the internet but she only had 15 mins to use it…so instead decided to use her parents….what would we do without mobile phones and internet??? On to Ft McLeod to see the Mountie Museum, then to Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump where there is an excellent museum that details the history of the Indians and the demise of the buffalo. We actually stood under the cliffs where the buffalo stampeded …it’s hard to imagine that we could be standing on thousands of buffalo bones. The places we stop at are of ... read more
