I-80 is a busy highway with lots of trucks and so, with another windy day ahead, I decided to take a different route home. We traveled south a little from Lincoln into the northeast corner of Kansas, then due east on good U.S. highways. We made good progress and stopped for the night at a nice campground near Macon, Missouri, almost two thirds of the way across the state. Once we hit eastern Nebraska things started to look much greener and now there are plenty of trees and predominantly farms rather than ranches.
